Business Insider reports that Disney just dropped the first trailer for their upcoming animated feature Moana.

We're finally getting to see the adventures of perhaps the most unconventional Disney princess yet, along with her demigod buddy Maui, hitting theaters later this year.

What's interesting is that while they've cast some relatively unknown talent like Aula ’ Cravalho as the lead, they've also brought in heavy hitters like Dwayne Johnson and Phillipa Soo.

And if you want to know why Lin-Manuel Miranda—the mastermind behind the massive Broadway hit Hamilton that swept up every major Tony award--is involved, it's because he's handling the music. That alone gives this a shot at being the next big Disney smash...

When I first saw the thread title, I honestly thought we were going to dive into the life and career of Moana Pozza back during the '90 World Cup. But, turns out that's not what this is about at all.

They actually went and changed the movie title over in Italy...
The picture will be titled Oceania in Italy , while The name of The protagonist will be Vaiana in lieu of Moana , presumably to avoid confusion with an Italian porn star of The same name

This little Vaiana from the animated movie really hits the mark, much like the late Moana Pozza. If only the film weren't intended for kids... 🤣

Here in the States, and across most of the Western world, the film is slated for release under the title VAIANA.

They changed the title in Italy specifically because of her. (To Oceania)

Across the rest of the US, Moana is actually a trademarked perfume name; it's the exact same reason why Zootopia was released as Zootropolis throughout most of the EU.

I get why they went with Zootropolis—it makes sense, kind of like naming something after an Acropolis—but I don't really buy the change for Moana. Honestly? They should have just kept it as Moana. It's way easier to remember and say.

I honestly doubt it’ll ever reach the level of fame as Frozen
I mean, look at Elsa... she's still plastered on every damn fondant birthday cake, notebook, t-shirt, and even baby wipes you see out there...
