My old rig finally kicked the bucket—it's dead, gone, finished. Now I need a new one. I’m looking to grab a complete setup for $550 max $2000, and that needs to include a monitor (at least 22 inches), all the peripherals, and the OS. I’ll be paying cash on delivery or via credit card online. One more thing—is this deal from a local shop actually any good?

PROCESSOR: Intel Core i5-4460 3.20GHz, 1150 Box
CPU COOLING: Intel 1150 CERTIFIED CPU FAN & HEATSINK
MOTHERBOARD: MSI H81M - LGA1150 Socket
MEMORY: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz
GRAPHICS CARD: Onboard
SSD: 120 GB
OPTICAL DRIVE: No
VGA: R7 360 2GB GDDR5
CASE: Black, Midi ATX (probably Aerocool)
PSU: 500W 80Plus, (likely Cougar)
NETWORK CARD: Onboard Gigabit LAN Network
OS: No
WARRANTY: 5 Years
(2 yr standard + 3 yr extended warranty)

$1233
Thanks in advance for any helpful advice.

I’d give an AMD RX 470 for this setup if you can hold out until July with your current card.

Thanks for the quick response, but I gotta ask—what’s the deal with Windows? Nobody here actually included it in the breakdown. For a newbie like me, that feels like a massive gray area—especially since a retail copy costs an absolute fortune. You can grab an OEM version from a site like Newegg for maybe $30. If this is a stupid question, don't clown on me.

So, from what I can tell, even the guy above didn't include Windows in his offer 😁

Or, if you had Inter swap out the FX8300, the Giga GA-970, and the LC Cosmo for an Intel Core i5-4460 3.20 and an ASUS B85M-K, that’s what it would cost you $2076

The FX8300 only really makes sense if you're planning to overclock or tackle heavy multitasking. If you're just strictly gaming—go with the i5.

Is it actually possible that these builds are more expensive now than they were just two months ago?

It’s possible you're looking at the admin view, where the shopping cart displays the highest price point—like the interest rate and such—rather than the actual cash amount.

I filled my cart and picked the cash option for that 10% discount. The final total looks about $100 higher, and now everyone’s claiming GPU prices are finally gonna tank.

It makes sense... plus, the dollar has actually gained some ground since then.
