A few months back, I was asking for advice here about picking out a laptop. Clearly, based on this thread title, I still haven't pulled the trigger.
I'm looking for some experts on here to give me their honest take on this specific model:

I want to use it to replace my current desktop. It'll mostly sit on my desk, but I'll need to lug it around once in a while.

Here's what I'm looking for:
- A 17.3'' screen (definitely prefer matte because of how the light hits my desk)
- Daily grind with Microsoft Office tools (mostly Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)—I usually have a bunch of docs open at once
- Basic web stuff😉 (browsing, email, Skype...)
- Music and movies
- Needs to be smooth; I can't have it lagging when I have 2-3 tabs open in Mozilla
- My current desktop chokes whenever I try to play movies or YouTube videos, so I really want to avoid that nightmare moving forward.

I was originally eyeing a Dell Latitude, but that glossy screen is driving me crazy.

I'll probably pay in installments, and I'm thinking about adding an extended warranty if I go with this one.
The specs on this might be overkill for what I actually need, but I want to be certain I've got a machine that'll handle everything for the next 4-5 years. That is, if it actually lasts that long... you never know with these things.

Most people I know use HP laptops, so I don't really have anyone to ask about Lenovo based on actual experience.

Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.
Thanks in advance!

Since you're specifically hunting for a non-reflective screen, your options are a bit more limited than usual.
The laptop you picked is actually a great call. Performance-wise, it’ll handle everything you listed without breaking a sweat. I don't think you'll run into any lag even if you have 5 or 8 Mozilla windows open at once—8GB of RAM should be plenty for that. The graphics are decent too, and having a 1TB hard drive is a nice, solid bonus. For the price point, you're looking at a really good value.

Thanks for the input!

Just one more thing...

Based on what I need to get done, am I actually gonna need a dedicated graphics card, or is integrated enough?

The guy over at Ellipse was trying to tell me I don't need it and that it’s a waste of money if I'm not using it. He tried to push this Lenovo B 70-80 on me—i3-5005U processor, Intel HD Graphics, 4 GB of RAM, and a 500 GB hard drive.
Look, I want a laptop that won't die on me in 4 or 5 years when I'm trying to run everything I mentioned in my first post. That’s why I’m a bit skeptical about just sticking with integrated graphics, but honestly, I'm no tech expert and I might just be overthinking things. So, I'm looking for some actual advice from someone who knows their stuff to clear this up for me ;-)

Thanks in advance!

The integrated graphics won't be an issue for you at all. If there isn't a massive price jump, I'd suggest grabbing that model from Instar. Having 8GB of RAM is a huge step up from 4GB, and honestly, it’ll probably give you some peace of mind for the next five or six years. Most modern web browsers just devour RAM these days—Chrome is usually the biggest culprit, while Internet Explorer is relatively light—though it really comes down to how heavy the sites you're visiting actually are.

Thanks for the tip! I was pretty much thinking the same thing, but I really needed a second opinion from someone who actually knows their stuff...

Appreciate it!
