I've got a monitor with VGA and DVI-D ports, and my graphics card has VGA, DVI-D, and HDMI. I can get a picture through the VGA, but nothing happens when I use the DVI-D. When I check the monitor menu, it just shows "D-SUB 1920x1080 60Hz"

Got a monitor issue:
My screen shrunk on me last night...
I'm using a 19-inch monitor, but now the picture looks like maybe 15 or 17 inches. There’s just black space on both the left and right sides.
Not sure if I bumped something, but I can't find any way to scale it back up...

Got it figured out. Turns out the monitor uses DVI-D, but my PC has DVI-I. Still not quite sure what the extra DVI-D port on the computer is even for...

Maybe try adjusting the resolution. Just right-click on your desktop, go to Screen Resolution, and see if changing things in that "Resolution" dropdown menu helps at all.

If there’s just a black bar creeping in from one side, I don't think we're looking at a resolution issue—if that were the case, you'd be seeing weird cropping at both the top and bottom too...
Maybe he should try running a factory reset directly through the monitor's own OSD menu.
