So, here's the deal—I'm looking for a 15.6-inch laptop that can actually handle some pretty demanding software. Beyond just a decent processor, I’m thinking 8GB of RAM and a 7200 RPM hard drive... I’m not entirely sure how much of a game-changer that speed really is, but I've heard the faster, the better.
I’ve been eyeing this Dell XPS 15 for about a thousand bucks. I don't really play many games, honestly, but the specs hit everything I need and the price tag won't break the bank. My only hesitation is seeing all these online reviews mentioning "poor build quality"—people complaining about the lid flexing under pressure or it feeling way too plastic-y. I can't tell if that's just typical gamer elitism or if the thing is actually going to fall apart in six months. My current machine is an old HP Pavilion—some model I can't quite recall, cost me around $500 back in the day—and even though it's basically all plastic, it hasn't crumbled despite being tossed in a backpack for four years. The screen is a little wobbly, too, but if that counts as "poor build quality," I've lived with it just fine. But, if I'm watching a movie one day and the whole chassis snaps in my hands? Yeah, I'd rather skip that headache.
If anyone here owns this specific model or knows of a "better" alternative with similar CPU power and RAM for the same kind of money, please let me know! I'd love some advice.
