Which Dell should I get?

I'm stuck picking between these three laptops. Gaming is my main priority, followed by everything else. My budget is capped at $1,200, and these three caught my eye because of the specs. If you guys know of anything better for that kind of cash, let me know.

If that’s really the only difference, I’d probably grab this one first and just slap some more memory in later. Let me know if I'm missing any other perks or differences between them.

Based on some threads I've read, having a lower resolution might actually be better for gaming since the specs aren't top-tier—it should run games smoother at a lower res. Can anyone give me a rough idea of how much of a boost that would give me in terms of FPS? It'd also be a win if it didn't come with macOS pre-installed so I'm not paying extra for it, but it's not a dealbreaker. 😁

Look, they're all decent laptops, and you're spot on about the resolution. When it comes to gaming, you really need to focus on the GPU and the resolution together. Check out the FPS benchmarks over at Notebookcheck—they do a killer job with their testing:

As you can see, for example, you'll be able to run The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim just fine at 768p, but trying to play it at 1080p will be a total nightmare. That's the gap right there...

Resolution downscaling depends on a ton of variables, but it mostly comes down to whatever panel was slapped into the laptop in the first place. Some panels handle it just fine, while others are an absolute disaster. There’s no real rule of thumb until you actually sit down and test every single game you care about. Honestly, panels perform best at their native resolution. Downscaling doesn't just make the image look like garbage; it also drags down performance because the system has to constantly recalculate and interpolate pixel positions. You aren't going to get a picture that matches the native resolution, and if you end up with a blurry mess, what's even the point of paying extra for a high-res, premium laptop?

The only real rule is that high-end, expensive panels usually handle downscaling pretty decently...
