Hey everyone!

I’m running into a bit of a wall trying to install the Intel x86 emulator Accelerator in Android Studio.
The installer keeps telling me I need to enable Intel VT-x in my BIOS, but I can't find that option anywhere in my settings.
I'm working on a Dell Inspiron running Windows 7 x64.
Any ideas? Should I try a BIOS update, or am I just out of luck?

"Your computer needs an Intel processor that supports Intel VT-x, EM64T, and Execute Disable (XD) functionality, all of which must be toggled on in your BIOS settings."

Check if your CPU actually handles this...

Better double-check if your CPU actually supports this...

Checked my chip on the Intel site—looks like I'm good to go.

Did you bother checking the BIOS under the "Advanced" tab?

It seems a little weird that you aren't seeing that option show up like it does in the screenshot above...

So, what kind of processor are we working with here, and what else is in the build?

I'm guessing this is the specific error message you're running into?
Have you had a chance to run a BIOS update yet?

Yeah, that’s the error 😁

I haven't, which was actually my main question 😁
I've never actually done this before, so I'm feeling a little out of my depth 😁

Maybe try running a BIOS update first, just to see if that clears things up... If that doesn't do the trick, then I think you might be in a real bind 🙂

Update is done, and yeah, I'm pretty much stuck.😁
The option just isn't there in the BIOS.

Shout out to the folks over at stackoverflow.com 😁
I was having a bit of a headache caused by Norton

try running some commands as admin from within windows
- bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off
- bcdedit /set nx AlwaysOn
Also make sure you have Norton turned off or disable "Enable hardware-assisted virtualization" under: Settings > Troubleshooting)
Then reboot.
