So, I think this is my first time drifting into this particular corner of the forum. I was just dropping by to see what the buzz was about regarding the LA Galaxy topic.

What actually caught me off guard, though, wasn't the discussion itself, but the way the moderator treated me upon arrival. It was condescending, arrogant, and frankly, pretty insulting...
TJ said:Look, I’ve read enough of you to know I won't waste any more time reading the rest of your post; based on what I've seen, I highly doubt you've written anything worth reading.
DeMarcus Russell was one of the top defenders in the Premier League the season before he headed to Liverpool FC. Comparing him to Simunic, who is just an average defender at ExxonMobil, makes absolutely zero sense.

How many points would I lose if I had said something like that to someone else? Even if they are a moderator, I don't believe it's their job to police my intelligence—or anyone else's for that matter.

I haven't insulted a single soul in my posts; I simply shared my perspective on the subject at hand.

I would appreciate it if the administration could weigh in on this kind of communication from a moderator within their own subforum.

I don't see what the big deal is. From a football perspective, your take was completely off base—it lacked any logic—and I’m sticking to that. I could have sugarcoated it for you, but why bother?

Anyone can get flagged, but that doesn't change the fact that your first sentence was pure nonsense. It killed my interest in reading anything else, which is exactly what I told you.

That's all from me—handing this over to the moderators.

Addendum: If we’re allowed to say someone’s post is completely brainless, please feel free to do so. Believe me, I’ve been tempted more than a few times to tell people who disagree with me that they clearly aren't using their heads.

@Anthony Jackson2.. What exactly is "totally missing the mark" about my football take? Is it just because I don't share your perspective? Or is it because I suggested your vendetta against Madoff is clouding your judgment? 🍿 Look, I couldn't care less about Madoff personally; I just don't see why you feel the need to drag his name into every single one of your posts...

p.s. Can we please restore Dave's post? Even if he let his language get a little colorful, his point is actually valid.

Zero. On an American football forum, we don't exactly go around rubbing each other's butts by default. That’s strictly a private matter, but let's not get sidetracked.

Ryan Vaughn7 said:Zero points. Look, we don't exactly go out of our way to kiss anyone's ass on this sports forum by default. That might happen privately, but that’s beside the point right now.

The issue isn't actually about the points; it's that the level of communication here has dropped through the floor. If any other user jumped into a thread with an attitude like that, they’d be slapped with at least 35 points just for trolling. Even much smaller infractions usually earn that kind of penalty.

Kissing ass? Are you seriously going to characterize it that way? 😵
🤦

I have to say, I’m pretty disappointed by how serious insults are being swept under the rug. Honestly, if certain terms are allowed now, why shouldn't I use them? Your response doesn't hold any intellectual weight, nor is it even worth reading! 😵😵

Is this really how we're supposed to talk to one another? Good grief!!

I actually called my mom to tell her what you wrote. Now, she's asking for you.

Get real. Everyone knows football forums are a bit more aggressive than average and tend to tolerate a little more heat. But here you are, whining the second someone tells you your take was stupid. Man up.

Ryan Vaughn7 said:Look, I actually called my mom to tell her what he wrote to me. Now, she’s looking for you.

Get real, man. Everyone knows the Football subforum is a bit more old-school and blunt than the average board, and people tend to have thicker skin there. But you? You hopped on here to whine just because someone told you your take was stupid for the first time. Grow some balls.

You're the one who needs to get real... Do you realize we are discussing major historical milestones here? Are we back in kindergarten or something?

If the general forum rules state that insults aren't allowed, then it's completely misplaced to start debating the "severity" of those insults based on which specific subforum we're in. What's the point of having general rules if they don't apply universally?

Don't try to minimize this; it's beneath us. I came here because I am genuinely shocked by how a moderator chose to communicate. Honestly, you wouldn't even talk to people like this at a local pub. There isn't a shred of respect, politeness, or—if I'm being honest—basic decency involved...

And please, I'd appreciate it if my posts were read carefully. I wasn't lodging a formal complaint; I was asking the administration for their official stance on this kind of communication from a moderator. This issue transcends the scope of any single subforum.

Furthermore, I am requesting that a "gray area" case be provided—an actual example of communication that would result in a penalty. I have no intention of playing a guessing game to figure out what earns a strike and what doesn't. Please, just be transparent!!

Guys, let’s not turn this thread into a spam fest. 🙂

Seriously though, dear administration, are you guys just ignoring me? That speaks volumes about the current state of things here...

On a side note, it didn't take me very long at all to get slapped with a warning on this exact same thread for something labeled as "insulting."

So, I’d love for someone to walk me through it: what exactly was so offensive about that specific post, when my own comments weren't treated with the same scrutiny? 🙂

And where is all that much-vaunted "higher level of tolerance" we keep hearing about now? 🤷

Seriously, dear administration, are you guys just ignoring me?? That actually says a lot about the current state of things here..

By the way, it didn't take me very long at all to get slapped with a warning on this exact same thread for something labeled as an insult.

So, come on, explain to me: what exactly was insulting in that specific post, when my comment clearly wasn't? 🙂

And where is all this much-vaunted "higher level of tolerance" everyone keeps talking about now? 🤷

Look, telling someone they’re talking nonsense isn't the same thing as launching a direct personal attack.
Are you really out here demanding a warning just because someone told you that you were talking nonsense?

Are you actually looking for a ban here just because someone suggested you were talking nonsense?

Please, don't try to play me for a fool while simultaneously making yourself look ignorant. If my memory serves me right, according to the forum rules—the very ones you seem so keen on defending—acting foolishly is actually a punishable offense.

Since it seems everyone has already conveniently forgotten the exact words thrown my way, let me repeat them for the record.

"I highly doubt you've written anything worth reading."
"Your comparison makes absolutely no sense."

Now, tell me, is that not an insult? Because if that doesn't qualify, then am I free to use that kind of communication style across this entire forum?

Look, there is a world of difference between telling someone their argument is rubbish—which I wouldn't even bother responding to—and what happened here. I wouldn't care if it were coming from some random user or a moderator on a different subreddit. But we are talking about the moderator running this specific thread using a vocabulary that should be strictly off-limits. It all points to one conclusion: a massive wave of hypocrisy governing this sports section. The ban I linked serves as perfect evidence of how selective the enforcement really is.

Go ahead, explain the logic to me: how is calling someone a "redneck" an insult, yet masking insults behind sophisticated language to call someone stupid and unintelligent is perfectly fine? 🤦 Where is this famous "increased tolerance" we keep hearing about?? 🤷 I find it hard to believe that in the span of just two days, you've managed to judge two diametrically opposed situations so inconsistently.
Honestly, by your own logic, we should probably ban certain long-time users entirely...

And I will say it for the third time—and I’ll say it a hundred more times if necessary—I am not asking for a ban. I am asking for the administration to take a stand on this type of communication. I assume this individual didn't become a moderator without reason, but this level of discourse is frankly pathetic. How can anyone hand out a ban after this without appearing like a total hypocrite? Where is the transparency? How can we expect any sense of equality?
How am I supposed to swallow the fact that someone gets flagged for a "redneck" comment, while the behavior I'm describing is considered completely acceptable?

neonfox12 said:Please, don't try to make a fool out of me, and let’s not pretend you're the smart one here either! If I recall correctly—and I'm pretty sure about this since you seem so keen on enforcing them—the forum rules clearly state that playing dumb is a punishable offense.

Since everyone seems to have already forgotten exactly what was said to me, I think I'll go ahead and repeat those remarks. Let's set the record straight!

I honestly have my doubts that you’ve written a single thing worth reading here.
Honestly, that comparison of yours just doesn't hold any water. It's completely baseless!

Is this considered an insult? Because if it isn't, I’m thinking about using this kind of communication style across the entire forum!

If someone just talks nonsense, I wouldn't even give them the time of day. Honestly, I wouldn't bother responding if it were just some random guy on a message board or a moderator over at some other niche forum. But this is different. We are talking about the moderator actually running this specific thread—someone who is using a vocabulary that should be absolutely off-limits. It leads me straight to one conclusion: there is a massive amount of hypocrisy governing American soccer. The disciplinary report I linked clearly proves my point; it shows exactly how certain people get a free pass while others don't.

Come on, tell me—how exactly is calling someone a "clueless idiot" any different from insulting them with a polite smile while basically telling them they’re completely brainless? 🤦 So, where exactly is this legendary "greater tolerance" everyone keeps bragging about? 🤷 I honestly cannot believe it! How is it even possible to flip-flop so completely on two different situations in just forty-eight hours? You’ve managed to give diametrically opposed assessments in such a tiny window of time. It's truly mind-boggling!
Oh, come on now! If we actually followed your logic to its natural conclusion, we’d have to ban that one particular user from this forum entirely!

I am saying this for the third time—and if I have to say it a hundred more times just to be heard, then so be it—but I’m not looking for a ban here. What I am looking for is a clear statement from the administration regarding this kind of communication. Now, look, I truly believe there is a reason this individual was appointed as a moderator, but the way they are handling things right now is honestly pathetic. How can someone issue a disciplinary strike to a user after behaving like this without being labeled a complete hypocrite? Where is the transparency? How are we supposed to expect any sense of fairness or equality when the rules seem to apply differently depending on who is talking?
How on earth am I supposed to swallow the bullshit when you guys act like what I’m bringing up isn't even controversial?

Oh, come on now! Please, stop talking nonsense!
He was actually talking about that piece you wrote, claiming it lacked any actual substance or logic. I honestly don't know what else you can even do on this forum besides that, but personally, we've never taken offense to it—it's certainly not an insult. If anything, it might just be some lighthearted trolling, depending on how you choose to see it!
Calling someone "Tudume" is just a direct, personal insult to the person you're talking to. We already have scumbags and Fatass hanging around this forum, so if you call someone a scumbag or a Fatass, that’s an insult too!
If you actually took Anthony Jackson2's post as some kind of personal insult, I honestly worry that the world of interpersonal communication might just be a bit too much for you to handle!

He was commenting on the content of your writing, essentially saying your logic didn't hold water. I don't know how you interact with everyone else on this forum, but we've never played those games here, and that isn't an insult. At most, it could be seen as trolling if that’s how you choose to interpret it.
Calling someone a "clueless idiot" is a direct personal attack. We have users named Scumbag and Fatass on this board, so calling someone those names would absolutely be considered an insult.
If you felt Tim's post was an insult, I honestly fear that navigating interpersonal communication in the real world might be a struggle for you.

Regarding the bold text, I can only send one massive 🤦 And once again, you’ve dismissed everything I said as total garbage. 🙄

And after typing all that out, you still haven't had a "lightbulb moment"? What kind of logic allows him to discredit my post like that? Where are his actual arguments to prove me wrong? Where does this style of communication lead? You said it yourself—it leads straight to trolling. Is this really how this thread should be moderated? Through the entire official record?

No, I’m not offended; someone speaking to me like that doesn't have the power to hurt my feelings. However, I feel like I was just met with the same energy, and now I'm the one facing a penalty. Besides, why should the peak of this discussion be someone being condescendingly belittled?

Calling someone a "clueless idiot" is just as much an insult as calling them a moron. I can't even begin to describe how pathetic and misplaced it feels to hand out a 45-point penalty for that, especially when you compare it to the insults that earn people far fewer points. Look, you guys specifically mentioned that you'd be moderating more leniently, yet you're handing out 45 points for a "clueless idiot" comment? In a fair system, if you want to remove someone for that kind of remark, a yellow card would suffice. That’s the standard set by the moderators I actually respect.

Anyway, I have no interest in going back and forth with you; you aren't even capable of addressing my actual point.

Dorian, Pringles, I’d appreciate it if you could ask Nica to provide their take on Tim's moderation style. There’s no sense in dragging this out. Thanks.

Nica, the reason I’m asking for your perspective is that I plan to cite this precedent during future discussions in the soccer thread. I’m coming to you because the lower-level users have proven themselves incapable of anything constructive; they're only interested in pointing fingers. So, please, give me your honest assessment: from your vantage point, was Tim's communication toward my minor contribution appropriate? Am I going to get penalized if I adopt that same arrogant, condescending tone in the soccer thread? Is calling someone a "clueless idiot" truly worse than telling them they "have no brain"?
Thanks in advance.

I honestly don't know where to start with this one, but I just had to jump in because my mind has been racing since I read that last thread. You know how much I love diving into these deep discussions, but sometimes the sheer scale of what we're talking about just leaves me staring at my screen in total disbelief! It feels like every time we think we've finally wrapped our heads around the core issue, some new variable pops up out of nowhere and completely flips the script on us. I was actually chatting with rustydrifter10 about this the other day—you know how they get when they start spiraling into the technical details—and even they were struggling to find a solid footing on this topic. We were going back and forth for nearly an hour, trying to make sense of the implications, and it really hit me that we might be looking at this through way too narrow a lens. If we step back and look at the broader landscape, the whole situation starts to feel much more complicated, doesn't it? It’s not just about the immediate impact; it’s about that slow, creeping shift in how everything functions under the surface. I’m curious to see if anyone else is feeling this same sense of mounting tension, or if it's just me overanalyzing things again! kaže:
Dorian, Pringles, Could someone please give rustydrifter10 a shout and ask them to weigh in on how TJ has been handling the moderation lately? Honestly, there’s really no point in dragging this out any longer. Thanks!

I don't have any issues at all with how TJ communicates in general. Like I was telling you before, people tend to be a bit more laid-back and casual over on the Football PDF forums—it’s been that way for as long as I can remember, so he can definitely afford to let his hair down a bit there. If you look at what he actually said in the quote, he wasn't even taking a shot at the person themselves; he was just reacting to what the other user wrote. There's a huge difference between critiquing someone's post and throwing a personal insult at them, you know?

I honestly think—and I’m pretty sure even the moderators over at the Football board would agree with me on this one—that the only thing we really need to avoid is when people start getting nasty with each other. If folks started hurling insults, getting personal, or just constantly poking at one another just to get a rise, it would turn this whole thread into absolute chaos, and nobody wants that.

neonfox12 said:rustydrifter10, the reason I’m looking for a review is that I want to be able to cite it whenever I jump into discussions on the football PDF moving forward.

I’d really suggest you tread carefully here. If your plan is to go on a crusade through the Football forums just to tell people their takes are brainless—basically just to derail discussions out of spite, stubbornness, or pure provocation—you’re probably going to end up getting sanctioned. There is a massive difference between a heated debate where someone is actually contributing something meaningful and just jumping into a thread specifically to troll or pick a fight, which is exactly what your post above seems to imply you're doing. It isn't the same thing when an active, constructive regular gets a little blunt during a passionate discussion versus someone swooping in just to stir the pot. We look at the context, you know?

I honestly don't even know where to start with this one, but I just had to jump in because my mind has been racing since I read the latest updates. It feels like we’re all just sitting around waiting for the other shoe to drop, doesn't it? I was scrolling through the threads earlier and saw what rustydrifter10 was saying about the recent shifts in the market, and man, I have to agree—it’s getting pretty wild out there. It reminds me of that period back in the early 2000s when everything felt totally unpredictable, you know? Anyway, I’ve been thinking deeply about how these changes are going to affect us in the long run. It’s not just about the immediate impact, though that’s certainly enough to make anyone sweat, but more about the structural stuff underneath it all. I feel like if we don't keep a really close eye on how the big players like ExxonMobil are pivoting their strategies, we might find ourselves caught completely off guard. It’s almost like watching a high-stakes football game where the momentum shifts so fast you can barely keep up with the play! I mean, look at the way things are moving in cities like Chicago or Houston right now; there's this palpable sense of tension and transition. It’s fascinating, really, even if it is a bit nerve-wracking. I'm curious to see what everyone else thinks about the direction we're heading. Are we looking at a temporary bump, or is this the "new normal" we've all been warned about? Personally, I'm trying to stay level-headed, but it's hard not to get a little animated when you realize just how much is at stake for all of us. Let's keep this conversation going, because I feel like we're just scratching the surface here. rustydrifter10 says:
Is calling someone a "tudume" actually worse than telling them they don't have a brain? Honestly, I've been sitting here thinking about this, and it really depends on who you're talking to and what kind of vibe you're going for. It’s such a specific, loaded thing to say, isn't it? If you tell someone they're brainless, you're basically just attacking their intelligence—it's a standard insult, a bit blunt, maybe even a little cliché, but it stays in the realm of "you're being stupid." But that other term? That hits differently. It feels more like a jab at someone's entire identity or where they come from, which can feel way more personal and biting. It's like you're not just saying they're making a mistake, but that they're fundamentally flawed because of their roots. I wonder what everyone else thinks about the weight of those words—does one sting more than the other in a heated argument?

Calling someone a "hillbilly" is definitely an insult. But look, you weren't being told that you lack a brain; the point was that your comparison—the actual text you wrote—was completely nonsensical. If we were discussing a more serious topic or looking at a formal white paper, that kind of comment might actually get you flagged for trolling, but on a football board like this, we’ve already established that things are a bit more laid back. My advice to the moderators is just to tread carefully here, because even on a football forum, you can't just troll people endlessly without consequences.
