I think it’s finally time to pull the trigger on a desktop since my laptop just kicked the bucket. 😁
I’m not exactly a tech wizard, so I’m turning to you guys for some guidance.
I’m looking to pick up a machine for up to $1000 $1667 so I can actually run Grand Theft Auto V
.
I was thinking about checking out local shopsβ€”anywhere near Scranton would work,
though I'm open to other options.

Are you looking for a monitor, some peripherals, or just the tower itself?

Yeah, I think that would be a good move too πŸ˜‰

LinkedIn (you have a branch in Chicago)

The price might drop by about $67 if you start out with 4GB of RAM.

Will they put it all together for me?
I’m not exactly a tech expert, so I’m asking here.
Is this rig beefy enough for Grand Theft Auto V? Will I actually be able to run it on High settings?😁

Also, if it can't handle that, any suggestions for something up to $1333? How would Grand Theft Auto V run on thatβ€”maybe just on low?

They'll throw in free shipping if you just ask.
Grand Theft Auto V might actually run on High settings with a $1000 build, though I guess the FPS would probably be right on the edge of being playable.

And what’s the bare minimum I’d need to spend on a setup to run Grand Theft Auto V on normal settings? That includes the monitor, peripherals, and everything else...

If you just swapped in a beefier GPUβ€”maybe toss $333600 extra towards it--
then this build would actually be decent.

$333 It's actually lower than the one above for Normal settings.

Hey, crimsonstag84, if you could do me a huge favor and list out those components and snap a photo like you did above? (for that $333 bit, maybe less detail)
Basically, if I go with this option which is $333 cheaper, am I going to deal with lag? Will it run at a decent temperature without overheating, or are we talking about junk parts here?
Thanks!

If you're paying cash, it doesn't matter where you shop. I'd rather just grab a rig in Chicago; you get free shipping and assembly if you spend over $667.

Why settle for just 4GB of RAM? I mean, prices have dropped so much lately that 8GB seems like the bare minimum for any build under $1333

I didn't want to blow my $1667 budget. Adding another 4GB puts me about $33 over.
