Laptop making weird noises

For the past few days, my Samsung laptop has started making these strange noises—it sounds almost like the rhythmic ticking of a clock.

It’s not constant, but it happens roughly every ten minutes or so, and once it starts, you get a burst of about 30 to 35 clicks in a row.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

There are only a few moving parts inside a laptop... and once one of them starts making noise, you’re in trouble. Have you tried running some diagnostics to check your temps? It might just be a dusty heatsink causing the fan to struggle and stutter.

The absolute worst-case scenario is that your hard drive is about to kick the bucket, signaling its final moments before total failure...

Either way, get it to a repair shop ASAP before things go south for good.

I was leaning toward the failing hard drive theory myself, though it strikes me as odd that there were so many clicking sounds initially, only for them to taper off to just a few once my buddy took it over.
