Dell laptop screen is just white

Alright, here's the deal. I fired up my laptop this morning and everything sounded normal—you know, the usual startup chimes and all that—but there’s just... nothing. No image. Just a solid white screen staring back at me. I've tried restarting it a bunch of times now, but it’s the same story every single time; the system boots up, but all I get is that blank white void. I did mess around with some stuff inside earlier, though honestly, I was basically just poking around blindly without really knowing what I was doing. Some folks are telling me it might be a loose ribbon cable or maybe even something fried on the motherboard, but who knows? So, I figured I'd ask you guys. I actually managed to hook it up to an external monitor via HDMI using the extended display setting, and guess what? It works perfectly fine! So, the signal is getting out to the monitor just fine, but the laptop screen itself is stuck on this white screen. Any ideas? I'm pretty desperate for some help here. Aha. Thanks a ton for all the help on this one. I think I’m gonna give it one more shot—try downloading it again and maybe nudge that flat a bit to see if things settle back into place. If that doesn't work... well, I guess I'll just have to swap it out, right? 😁

If you can't swing a new ribbon cable right now, maybe try just holding it in place while it's actually sending a signal.
