Hey, so my VTX HD 7870 Black Edition with the Tahiti chip is making this annoying Coil whine sound, and it’s driving me crazy. It gets way louder when I'm gaming, but even when I'm just chilling on the desktop, scrolling through Facebook, watching YouTube, or reading news sites... it still does it. Temps seem totally fine though. Since my warranty is already up, should I actually bother taking this thing into a repair shop, or is it fine to just keep running it like this?
Thanks

Unfortunately, that’s just par for the course...

It'll work fine, and honestly, I doubt the guys at the dealership would even bother messing with it

Man, I went through the exact same headache! What’s happening is your FPSi is probably hitting some absolutely insane, astronomical levels—like 3000+ FPS—and that's what's driving the noise. It's an easy fix, really. Just grab MSI Afterburner and use the On-screen display (via RivaTuner) to cap your frame rate so it doesn't climb past 100. Boom. No more screaming hardware.🙂
