Hello.
I recently purchased a new computer and I am encountering several issues while running Windows 8.1.

1. Why does my screen brightness automatically dim the moment I unplug the power adapter? Even though I have set the power management settings to maximum for when it's on battery, and all individual brightness settings are at full capacity, it still drops.

2. Why is the text on this laptop incredibly small? I attempted to adjust the display scaling from medium to large, but then everything becomes far too oversized. Furthermore, in Chrome, about 99% of websites look strangely compressed; the text is tiny and the layout doesn't stretch to fill the width like it does in Mozilla. If I try to zoom in, the entire page becomes distorted. I've tried tinkering with the Chrome settings, but nothing works. The screen is Full HD.

3. After installing the audio drivers, I also received a Dolby Digital plus application for sound tuning. However, within that software, there are only four presets provided, none of which reproduce the audio accurately—they all distort the sound terribly. There is no way to customize anything beyond those three modes. To make matters worse, if I disable Dolby Digital plus entirely, the audio quality becomes an absolute catastrophe.

4. Additionally, the fan is extremely loud, even when I am not running any demanding applications that would require such heavy cooling. It typically runs loudly for about half an hour before finally quieting down completely; I am unsure if this is normal behavior or if there is a way to reduce the noise.

I hope someone might be able to assist me. I can provide more information if required.

I purchased a new computer and am facing several issues; I am an American user of the Windows 8.1 operating system.

1. Why does my brightness dim automatically when I unplug the power adapter, even though the power management settings in the Control Panel are set to maximum for battery mode, and all brightness levels are maxed out?

2. Why is the text on this laptop incredibly tiny? I attempted to adjust the display scaling from medium to large, but then everything became oversized. Furthermore, on Chrome, roughly 99% of websites appear strangely narrow; the text is minuscule and the layout doesn't span the width of the screen like it does in Mozilla, yet zooming in causes the entire page to distort. I tried tweaking things within the Chrome settings, but to no avail. The screen is Full HD.

3. I downloaded the audio drivers for the laptop, which included a Dolby Digital plus program for music settings. However, within that software, there are only four audio modes available, none of which reproduce the sound accurately—they all distort it terribly—and I have no way to adjust anything other than selecting those three modes. If I disable Dolby Digital plus, the sound quality becomes even more catastrophic.

4. Additionally, the fan is extremely loud, despite the fact that I am not running any demanding applications that would require such intense cooling. It usually runs loudly for about half an hour and then goes completely silent; I am unsure if this is normal or if there is a way to mitigate it.

I hope someone can provide some assistance; I am happy to provide further details if necessary.

1. I managed to resolve this entirely.
2. Certain pages are still far too small; specifically, they aren't scaled correctly compared to how they appear in Mozilla.
3. This remains unresolved, as I cannot locate an equalizer.
4. This issue has also been resolved.

However, a fifth problem has emerged: when playing Full HD video, the image seems to stutter; it lacks the fluidity I experience on my smartphone or what I was accustomed to on my previous laptop.

I will begin detailing my issues to her. 🙂
