Request for links to help others out

So, I was hanging out in that 'Pediatric Health' thread, trying to be helpful to parents dealing with kids running high fevers, and I dropped a link to an article I actually wrote elsewhere... but the mods nuked it immediately because of the rules. Look, I get it. Rules are rules. But I’m not here to push some agenda or self-promote for the hell of it. I just wanted to share some insights from my own professional and personal experience via an article on a site like Parents.com—not even a forum link, just a resource. I'm just asking for permission to post the link so I can actually pass along what I know to people who might need it...

You guys really need to rethink these forum rules, because in cases like this, they’re clearly just plain stupid.

Look, per the rules, we don't allow links to other forums, and 'Parents Magazine' is basically a family forum. Nobody's stopping you from sharing your expertise here. You're more than welcome to write out your thoughts on the fever thread, just... maybe skip the external link. Thanks for understanding.

Just to be clear—again—that link isn't pointing to a specific thread on this forum... it’s just going to the main landing page of the news site where all their stories live.

Nothing's more annoying than seeing copy-paste spam right here on the forum.

The rules aren't stupid.
They make sense.
And so does this one.

Though I guess it's a lot to ask someone to get it when they only joined the community two months ago.

I wasn't saying they're stupid in a broad sense, just in this particular instance. Honestly, if you can't see how absurd this situation is, you've probably got some serious issues going on upstairs.

I get it, but the site has its own forum built right in. Why not just copy-paste the actual snippet you're talking about? That's what the rest of us do.

...wait...I'm a little lost here 🤔...was it a post containing a link to the forum or a link to a news site that happens to have its own forum? Because if it's the latter, then linking them isn't allowed. But man, that's basically all the news out there, since pretty much every major outlet has its own message board🤷

Look, even if someone just does a standard copy-paste—and since we're talking about content that’s already been published on another news site—it would be common courtesy to actually mention where it came from, wouldn't it?

Lately, it feels like every single political debate or news cycle just circles back to some random article on Fox News. ☕
