After those gray 28 minutes—feeling like you're watching black-and-white slides synced to a tape recorder, where that weird mix of narration and eerie sounds tries to make sense of the unknown—all you're left with is silence and a hollow stare.

I’ve been wondering why the director tucked that tiny, barely noticeable video clip into a film made entirely of still photos. My guess? He wanted to show that the protagonist only felt truly alive when he was watching his partner sleep. It’s like they finally became one the exact moment she looked back at him with love.

There’s a new adaptation of this story hitting screens lately, the series 12 Monkeys. It’s actually a fantastic show... I caught it recently with an American narrator...

I didn't particularly care for it. Beyond that, I can't recall much of anything else.

la Jetée

A few years back, I caught this in a packed theater at the SC in New York City. It was the same week they were screening Buñuel’s "Un Chien Andalou." Both were running on 35mm film.

I stumbled upon this while browsing Wikipedia for some weird, offbeat classic movies, and I finally gave it a watch on YouTube.
I honestly expected it to be a bit of a letdown since there isn't much info about it available here in the States.
Watching it on a big screen in a theater would have been the ideal way to experience it, but you can still tell how high-quality this is even through a screen.
It would have been an even better experience if I had watched this one first, before diving into the later films he influenced.
(I'm talking about la Jetée)

Yeah, but so what? It's like how the USA-Germany game was broadcast on PBS on July 1st, 1998. Then, just four days later, PBS aired the USA-France match. Both were sent out via analog signal.
