To my attention,

It honestly baffles me how a single moderator can spend the next morning handing out bans and nuking posts while two other moderators were supposedly "on duty" the previous evening and somehow failed to notice blatant "sub-forum rule violations."
Either those two mods have no idea what they’re actually doing, or this morning's "executioner" is just being way too aggressive and overzealous in his duties.
Don't all moderators have the exact same rulebook sitting right in front of them? Or does enforcement just depend on whoever woke up on the wrong side of the bed that morning...

If you're looking for someone to blame for being overly involved, look in the mirror.
What Positive is doing here has officially crossed the line.
Look, if you don't like her takes? Fine. Use logic and dismantle them.
Unfortunately, when you run out of actual arguments, you resort to personal insults, trolling her in unrelated threads, and making jokes about her in discussions where she isn't even present.

The warning you received from me is just a continuation of yesterday’s conversation, where everything was laid out for you quite clearly.
You know perfectly well—and we have gone over this countless times—that bringing things down to a personal level is unacceptable. I made sure to reiterate that to you yesterday, for what feels like the hundredth time.
Then, you decided to take your grievances out on the moderators in a completely random thread. You know the rules against that, too; we've discussed it multiple times, yet you did it anyway and now you're acting surprised by the disciplinary action.
Had I been active in that specific thread last night, you would have been flagged then. But, unfortunately, even I need to sleep sometimes.

As for why the other moderators didn't step in sooner—I haven't the slightest clue. I'll leave that to them, especially since posts like yours are routinely, without exception, met with a strike.

I’m not even surprised by my ban.
What actually shocks me is the blatant double standard being played out here, both in how the moderators run things and how they choose to treat certain users compared to others.
And since you decided to bring up that specific user, let's be real: this woman spends her time insulting an entire demographic day in and day out without any filter whatsoever, just parroting the same tired opinions that everyone else on this site already knows by heart. She is quite literally hurling insults multiple times every single day.
Is that not the textbook definition of trolling?

Look, I don't personally feel threatened by posting alongside her, but it is absolutely unacceptable that you guys consistently overlook her trolling behavior.

As for all the mockery being thrown around... there aren't many of us left who haven't been taken out of context by her...

It wasn't exactly a case of double standards, but I can see how it looked that way. I was having some technical glitches with my computer and/or the forum itself, and honestly, it’s not the first time this has happened. The moderator tools just completely glitched out on me—I couldn't issue warnings or edit posts, which meant I couldn't delete them either. My only real options were to post a warning and hope people took it seriously, or just go straight to a ban through the admin control panel. That’s why I made that threat about a temporary suspension if things kept going in that direction; it’s definitely not my usual style, since I usually stick to formal warnings.

I definitely dropped the ball by not reaching out to the other moderators or someone else on the team to step in and handle the sanctions while I was locked out.

To be fair, I’ve been on the receiving end of this too—where I start getting ready to hand out warnings or scrub posts because someone is breaking the rules, only to run into a moderator notice from someone else who decided a simple heads-up was enough. Even though we all follow the same rulebook and try to keep our logs consistent, we aren't Borg; we don't always see eye-to-eye on everything. This particular situation wasn't one of those disagreements, though; it was just a mistake on my part for not even letting the rest of the team know I was having issues. Last time this kind of thing cropped up, I made sure to give everyone a heads-up.

Alright, rustydrifter10... you really are a fair-minded moderator, through thick and thin... 😍

But just look at how things have been spiraling lately with that infamous thread... you’ve got one group of people wasting everyone's time on this forum trying to explain how this particular user is constantly being insulting, while another group is blindly making excuses for her...
None of this would be happening if you guys—the mods—had actually stepped in early enough to issue a warning and shut it down...
The way it stands now, the people who actually bother to think more deeply than she does are the ones suffering—dealing with deleted posts, warnings, and having to hunt for some semblance of justice... meanwhile, her little fan club gets to glorify her without any consequences, which is really just more trolling.

Nica said:It isn't exactly a double standard, though that is certainly how it feels. Even when we adhere to the same regulations and maintain our files in an identical fashion, our perspectives occasionally diverge; after all, we aren't the Borg.

That is simply the nature of most matters in daily life: different people observe the exact same content yet interpret it through entirely different lenses.
In the "Science" section under the "space and time" thread, I see Wand_1 trolling incessantly, yet the moderators respond by issuing warnings to every innocent bystander caught in the crossfire.

@LIQ

Just as Drew Smith9 received a partial ban from the Natural Sciences board, you are headed for the same fate.
Your constant sniping is not merely unintelligent; it fails to be even remotely amusing.

Consider this our final joint warning. If I witness one more troll post from you, you will be removed from PZ. The choice is yours: depart of your own volition or face a partial ban. Thank you for your attention. tik __________________

By the way—what does a "partial ban" actually entail? Is it permanent and post-mortem, or does it last for a few months?
-----
Edit - Found the answer:

3. Partial Bans

If a user becomes a nuisance to the moderators on one specific sub-forum but remains a valuable contributor on another, the moderators of the first sub-forum may request a partial ban for that user regarding their specific area. This means the sub-forum effectively becomes invisible to that user. This ban is permanent. It is reserved exclusively for exceptional cases where a user is problematic in one sub-forum, while remaining useful in another.
-------
I find myself laughing at this, albeit with a profound sense of bewilderment. My thanks to EL Ninho and tik __________________. I also extend my gratitude to those who approved this "partial" ban for me. It seems I have earned it quite thoroughly—though perhaps I am simply too dim-witted to grasp why!
Regrettably, I possess no mechanism to appeal or take any action regarding your judgment and assessment.
I wish you a productive session!
