To kick things off, here are my desktop specs:http://prntscr.com/55s4zc

Since I’m switching over to the Wi-Fi provided by my landlord upstairs—and honestly, I've been struggling with a slow cellular dongle for ages—I was wondering which type of signal booster or adapter I should pick up? Any specific brands you'd recommend? Thanks a million!

Would any random USB WiFi dongle with an external antenna do the trick, or maybe something like this?

Thanks a ton! Do you happen to know if I could pick one up at a shop in Washington, D.C.?

If you’re looking for an IT shop—say, if you happen to be out in a suburb like Arlington—you could swing by HGSpot. If you're closer to the downtown area, Centro.hr is a solid bet, or you can always hit up an Intel specialist over in Jordan.

Got it, thanks so much!
