rustywalker42, we really just want to avoid those kinds of circular debates here. She clearly has her own perspective on how certain moderation policies should be handled; the mods can review her suggestions and decide whether or not to implement them. If that’s essentially what you're getting at, then I find myself in agreement with your point.

Fine, no biggie, I just wanted to know why. 😉

I basically agree with her—politics has become such a total train wreck that I don't even bother watching anymore.
Even if we don't see eye to eye on everything, the fact remains that both sides just tear each other apart depending on the topic.

That's a solid thought, though I doubt there'd be much payoff.

In my experience, there isn't a single subforum on this site where a thread doesn't devolve into chaos after just three pages, veering off into some completely irrelevant tangent. It’s just the nature of the beast, and honestly, moderators can't do much more than sit here 24/7 trying to keep up.

It would be far more effective to tighten the discussion criteria—stop the endless thread cloning, shut down those circular arguments, and prevent everyone from just dumping their frustrations everywhere. The current "anything goes as long as it isn't a slur" policy is a disaster. Real moderation requires a much deeper level of engagement than what we're seeing now.

Even if we don't see eye to eye on the actual issues, it’s a fact that both sides just talk in circles depending on the topic.

That's the thing. On the politics board, you run into so many users who just spout the same tired clichés over and over. Every single one of their posts is just mindless filler. When those people show up in a thread, any sane person loses interest in reading, let alone contributing. Anthony is spot on—you find those types on every side of the aisle.
