Most original alien life forms in sci-fi?

Alright, I’m putting together a poll where I’ve picked out a few different alien biological organisms or extraterrestrial A.I. from Hollywood movies (don't come for me on this) just to see which ones have the most original life forms out there...

Virus

An alien life form without a "typical body," instead transmitting its consciousness via specific cosmic frequencies that, once they hit "fertile ground," can fuse biological tissue with electronics...



Oblivion

An alien A.I. that crushed humanity, drained Earth's resources, runs millions of drones, and is basically a pro at making clones...

A.I. Artificial Intelligence

This is easily one of my favorite types of aliens. At the end of the movie, they show up in this non-traditional ship made of some kind of "blocks." They have practically plasma-based bodies without any standard fleshy organs. Honestly, their entire body is just one massive, stunning brain. They can read anyone's memories just by touching a human or robot head. Plus, they're experts at granting wishes...

Transformers

What's there to say? You already know them all. Most people grew up watching their cartoons before they were turned into movies. Don't even need a picture (I'm hitting my 😢 limit)

Alien

The first alien that didn't stick to the humanoid mold. Even cooler is that they don't have eyes, and their blood is acid that eats through everything. Just seeing them is intimidating...

Prometheus

Well, maybe the "good" aliens came straight out of an engineer's kitchen, though that recipe went south fast, leaving the whole kitchen useless...
The creators of our species, looking pretty similar to us—just more muscle, way more mass, taller, white skin, black eyes, and hairless. And yeah, if they made us, they clearly aren't exactly fans of our look...😁

Predator

Space hunters traveling the cosmos looking for good prey, usually picking alpha predators from other star systems to hunt. Talk about an adrenaline rush...
In the third installment, you find out there are actually two different types of Predator...
The best part is when he takes off the mask to reveal a face covered in weird octopus-like growths...

The Thing

A cosmic entity that merges with human bodies in all sorts of ways, turning human cells into alien ones. Total metamorphosis...😒

Edge of Tomorrow

They're fast, they're agile, and they've got a hundred tentacles to kill you with. Their look is basically a fusion of a hundred-armed octopus. Not many would dare pick a fight with those...🤷

District 9

Unlike the others, these guys are unique because they arrive on Earth as a hopeless case and end up stuck in special ghettos in South Africa as unwanted immigrants. Interesting how much they look like insects...

Starship Troopers

Man, I love these aliens. Okay, fine, they're also just another type of insect invading planets. It's been a while since I saw this one so my memory is fuzzy, but I think there are giant bugs here that blast plasma into space. Either way, they're pretty intense to watch...

Independence Day

Kinda typical aliens, hopping from planet to planet, conquering them and stripping their resources. They have that interesting flat head shape and wear what looks like a cloak. Their special thing is being able to communicate telepathically...

Fifth Element

We get all sorts of aliens here, but the ones that actually stuck with me are those greasy, metallic types that look totally washed out... unlike the usual skinny creatures we see elsewhere.

Gray

And honestly, Grays are basically the default alien look in movies. Maybe people just have a thing for those big-headed, lanky dudes with the black eyes, no ears, and tiny mouths. I didn't link them to any specific flick because they used to be everywhere, though you rarely see them pop up like that anymore...

A.I. Artificial Intelligence

Think about it: a living, breathing ocean covering an entire world like in *Solaris*? Or maybe those mysterious entities from *The Abyss*? Then you’ve got the inscrutable aliens and their monolith from *2001: A Space Odyssey*. Or even that invisible presence from *Forbidden Planet*. Honestly, there are so many incredible examples of truly well-conceived aliens out there.

I know I didn't catch everything, but this is basically what I've got so far. If none of these hit the mark for you, just skip the vote or grab something else from the list that feels original enough...

I skipped over 2001: A Space Odyssey because that monolith thing just threw me for a loop... even if it is a classic... 🙏

Not this one. It’s similar to The Thing, but more like the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Invasion of the Body Snatchers

They Live works too. It’s not quite on the level of The Thing, but it's probably the closest thing to what was mentioned.

Look, if we're talking relatively recent (1987), you've got those two aliens—one cop and one criminal—from Hidden.
The cop is played by Kyle MacLachlan, while the crook just hops from body to body.

There's that legendary scene where, after jumping from a guy into a woman, he takes a look, gives her breasts a little pat, and goes ohoho! 🤣

Alright, let's take this one step at a time.

- First off—where did all the good stuff go? I'm talking E.T., Star Trek, Star Wars, The Abyss...

- Secondly—it’s been pointed out a dozen times already that we can't just include random stuff like this because (refer back to my first point) there just aren't enough options to cover everything.

- Thirdly—since making an exhaustive list is basically impossible, you should just add an "Other person/movie/director" option to the poll. So, I'm locking this thread for now while I wait for the inevitable "hey, you forgot this!" or "what about that?" comments to start rolling in... if you really want to do this right, just reorganize it properly and toss in that "other" category so it actually works.
