Hey there,

So, I've got this machine running macOS (it's a Hackintosh)
And now I need to make a bootable Windows 7 USB stick,
I grabbed the ISO, but I can't for the life of me get it onto the USB,
I found some software online, but apparently, they don't actually make the drive bootable,
Tried using Boot Camp Assistant, but since this is just a Hackintosh, that's a dead end...
Disk Utility isn't doing the trick either..

Any ideas? help me out :/

So, you don't have a CD/DVD drive to burn those Windows 7 ISO files?

I actually have an official Windows 7 DVD with the key, but I don't have an optical drive... I guess I stopped using those a long time ago..

Rufus is honestly one of the best—and definitely one of the simplest—little tools out there for turning an ISO file into a bootable USB drive. I’m not entirely sure if your current setup will play nice with it, but it might be worth a shot—you don't exactly have anything to lose, right?

Just grab UNetbootin for mac. For the specifics, check out Installing Other Distributions Using UNetbootin.

There's no Rufus for Mac.

Tried it, but the whole thing just dies after three seconds and starts dumping files onto the USB:
idlinux.sys
menu.c32
syslinux.cfg
unbfilel.txt
ubnpathl.txt

Here's what I did:
plugged in the drive
selected it
picked the ISO
selected the ISO
hit OK

It’d honestly be easiest if you just used a Windows computer to put together that bootable USB... You could probably swing by a friend's place or a neighbor's—it really only takes about five minutes to get it done.

Yeah, true, but I don't really have anyone to ask :P
Every single person I know with a computer just says:
"No way, I'm not letting you touch my rig. You're gonna break something or install like a billion viruses."

So now I'm digging through some old junk to find an ancient PC with a disc drive. If I can actually get it running, maybe that'll help.

So, I found some reader that actually works, but it’s loud as hell... I'll let you know if I can get it installed
