Woke up this morning with some weird stomach pains—honestly thought it was just those cheese curls I crushed last night....

Hit the bathroom, and yeah, things were solid but definitely not normal, plus I still felt pretty crappy
About five minutes later, the first wave of diarrhea hit. Stomach is still killing me.

Grabbed some Medtronic and dissolved one tablet in a little bit of cold water (looked disgusting, but I downed it anyway)

Since then, I've had this constant burping sensation. Ended up back on the toilet twice more with more watery stools

Roughly thirty minutes after the Medtronic, I threw up some black liquid. Felt instant relief, but my stomach is still aching, though I haven't had to run to the bathroom for 2 or 3 hours now.

I’m definitely thinking about taking another one, but can I just swallow the pill with water? Or does it absolutely have to be dissolved? That dissolved stuff is hard to get down......

thanks🙂

I’m not sure if just one pill is going to cut it. When I was dealing with something similar, I was taking 7 tablets dissolved in water three times a day until things finally leveled out.

The issue is I puked up exactly what I just swallowed—probably because the water was too cold or something...

Just popped a Linex forte tablet since my stomach is still killing me.

It sounds like you clearly have infectious gastroenteritis.
You should take the Medtronic three times a day, using 2 to 4 tablets each time—dissolved in water or tea. Most importantly, stick to a strict diet: toast, tea, boiled chicken, or plain broth. And for heaven's sake, stay hydrated!
You can also use Linex, but you have to be careful with the timing between the Linex and the activated charcoal. You need to leave at least a 2-hour gap between them.
You need to follow this regimen for at least 3 days.

Sip it in slowly and make sure the water isn't ice-cold. If you start feeling nauseous, just hang on a second before continuing.
The taste is pretty terrible, but honestly, it’s the only thing that actually worked for me.

You don't actually have to dissolve charcoal tablets in water—though if you're using the powder, you definitely have to, otherwise you'll be choking on it... it's just more effective if you do. Personally, I think the best way to take them is with some warm, unsweetened tea. An Indian or maybe a Russian black tea works wonders because it slightly seals everything up

So I can just pop the pill and wash it down with a few sips of tea? Because honestly, any amount of liquid makes me feel nauseous—let alone an entire glass...😢

Look, that charcoal stuff crumbles and melts really easily. It works like a sponge, just "grabbing" toxins from your stomach and guts onto its surface. Unless you’ve got a seriously sensitive esophagus, there’s really no reason you couldn't just swallow the tablets whole. btw, one or two won't cut it if things are getting serious—like those cases I mentioned earlier. If you happen to have some Reglan lying around (an antiemetic, helps kill that urge to puke), grab it. And Linex helps rebuild your gut flora, so it makes sense to take it once the acute purging settles down.

Thanks a ton... gonna go chug that crap soon. Hopefully it doesn't keep me up half the night.😛

Medtronic tablets always seem to mess with my stomach... the more I take, the worse the nausea gets. It just leads straight to vomiting...
Since you're having to take something more frequently, I’d honestly suggest switching from Medtronic over to either Linex caps or Seldiar caps. They work just as well—maybe even better—and they won't leave you dealing with extra side effects...

It really varies from person to person. Personally, I was taking up to 20 a day without any issues. The key is to make sure you're sipping fluids slowly.

Look, if you take some medical grade activated charcoal—something like Medtronic—when you’re actually feeling fine, you'll see it doesn't cause any stomach issues at all. The thing is, people only start popping these when they're already feeling absolutely miserable, so naturally, they blame the charcoal for the discomfort... but it's not the culprit. Honestly, if you're gulping down anything too fast during one of those episodes, even just plain water, you're probably gonna end up throwing up.

Like what was said above, just take it easy. Sip slowly, bit by bit. Take the tablets one at a time instead of trying to shove a whole handful into your mouth, and just have tiny sips of tea...

From what I've seen, when dealing with acute enterocolitis—specifically when it's just gut issues rather than stomach problems—Medtronic tablets can trigger some nasty gastric distress. That’s why I suggested those two options. Since he’s already starting to feel the effects, there's really no point in making things harder on him...

So, quick question... is he generally sensitive to lactose? Because Carbomed does have some in there, though it’s just a tiny amount used as a filler to help with the taste. But honestly, both lactose and sucrose can be pretty aggravating when you're fighting off any kind of bacterial infection. That's basically why medical charcoal is usually reserved for those sudden cases of food poisoning (whether from bad food or meds, but that's a whole different rabbit hole)...
