So, I recently picked up an Intel Core i3-3220. Was browsing online a few weeks back and saw it listed as "Intel Core i3-3220 with integrated graphics." Does that actually mean the CPU has built-in graphics? And if it does, how do I set it as the primary one? (I've already got a dedicated card plugged in).🤷

Look, you just need to go into the BIOS and enable the onboard graphics while disabling the dedicated card, or whatever the setting is called. You'll also have to plug the monitor directly into the motherboard, but... what specific graphics card are you actually running right now?

Yeah, there's a chance he accidentally shoved the monitor cable into the motherboard port instead of the GPU 😁

Maybe you should have just gone with a dedicated, more powerful 🤷. In that case, there was really no point in opting for an APU in the first place.

Can't find that option in my BIOS (version 2.14.1219.). Plus, my dedicated card is absolute garbage—it's an NVIDIA GeForce GT 730.

Just unplug that dedicated card from the motherboard and plug your monitor cable directly into the motherboard port instead.🙂 The integrated graphics on that Dell Latitude 5480 inside your top-tier APU will definitely outperform that weak dedicated card anyway. How much RAM are you running, and what's the frequency? If you aren't sure, just download CPU-Z to check.

I think we all know exactly what's being implied here. 😛

You could just print it out so you don't have to worry about what Adam Moore3 says.

Adam Moore3 said:Just plug that thing into its own slot on the motherboard and move the monitor cable over to the port on the tower. Simple enough, right? 🙂 That Dell Latitude 5480 integrated graphics in that high-end APU is still gonna outrun your dedicated card any day of the week. Seriously. How much RAM are you even running? What's the frequency? If you don't know, just go download a tool and check. CPU-Z? Just check it.

So I pull out the GPU and plug my monitor straight into the motherboard... and yeah, it actually picks up the integrated graphics on this ASUS board. I'm running a single 4GB stick of RAM at 800MHz. What else can I ask for?

Alright, that’s pretty much it. You just need to grab the drivers for that card from the Intel website and get them installed; I guess you should probably uninstall the old CCC first.

Wait, seriously? Could you tell me exactly which MBB you're using? I'm genuinely curious because I can't wrap my head around which AMD MBO with an FM socket actually features built-in integrated graphics like that.

I find that pretty hard to believe, honestly. Usually, if you pop the dedicated GPU out of the MBB, you just get the video signal from the APU and call it a day—just install the AMD drivers for the APU and you're good to go.
