Heart Radiofrequency Ablation: Questions, Experiences, and Advice

Hi everyone,
Here’s my situation. I’m 54...
Ten years ago, I survived a myocardial infarction. They put in two stents, and about a year later, I had a defibrillator implanted because they diagnosed me with VT (ventricular tachycardia).
The episodes are pretty frequent, and the device has had to kick in several times to stop them.
Now, my doctors are suggesting ablation as an option.
Has anyone here gone through an ablation? I'd love to hear what your experience was like during recovery.

I haven't dealt with this firsthand, so my take is more of a second-hand observation.
From what I’ve seen, once someone goes through with the recommended procedure, their quality of life tends to see a massive jump. It's pretty common for most patients to feel like a whole new person after the dust settles.

Looking at all the data we have here, I honestly think it's an option worth giving some serious thought to.🙂

Anyone here actually have a defibrillator implanted? And if so, did you experience any episodes after getting it put in?

I might be able to shed some light on a few of your questions regarding what you're going through. Unfortunately, I’ve been diagnosed with Brugada syndrome, along with VT tachycardia. I actually had my first defibrillator implanted back in 2009, and just six months ago, I underwent a procedure to replace my second one. Back in 2012, I traveled to Munich for an ablation. Everything went quite smoothly, though it didn't resolve the VT tachycardia; instead, I dealt with sinus tachycardia that would just spike constantly, hitting upwards of 280 beats per minute and regularly triggering my device. I suppose I can say things are better now—I haven't received an electric shock since February 2013. My heart still feels like it's going a bit haywire sometimes, but (knock on wood😵), it hasn't resulted in a shock yet. People tend to say that you can't just fix this once and for all, but well, things do get a little easier.
