Why is there so much trolling allowed here?

I don't really get why one specific person is being allowed to troll this much on the Ukraine thread. When they finally get caught, maybe they'll face some consequences, but right now they just reply to every single post with these one-sentence snarky remarks. It's clearly not about having an actual opinion or wanting a discussion; it's just pure trolling.

If this isn't trolling, then I guess I don't know what actually is. This isn't even the first time they've done this on this topic, either. These posts are just a small sample from one single outburst.

The Ukraine thread is being moderated fairly. We’re trying to keep the discussion moving with minimal intervention, because over-policing a topic this heated usually just backfires.

And as for calling someone out for lying—well, I suppose I'll always do that when someone claims a specific person with a full name said something but fails to provide any actual proof. If you all want to label that as trolling, fine. Issue the ban, but I'm not backing down. 🙂

I already told you our approach is to moderate with minimal interference to allow for high-quality debate. That’s my only answer. Whether or not someone gets banned is on us, not you.

Do you honestly believe any US official is going to go on record and admit that the events in Ukraine were funded by the USA to the tune of billions?

And then, anyone who tries to interpret those leaked phone calls or recorded conversations will just be branded a liar and accused of spreading misinformation. No one will actually engage with the substance of the information, because that would defeat the purpose of the debate.

Take it as friendly advice: don't bother.

If the administration has something legitimate to say, fine. Otherwise, I'm done with this.

It is up to us users to complain about this section of the forum, not about you, and I have every right to lodge a complaint. If a topic is truly volatile, then surely you wouldn't allow those purely provocative posts from the person I am complaining about. I have never labeled anyone's conclusions as lies based on certain information. But maybe I will in the future if Mark Markovic decides, based on his data, that Peter Perry actually said something was a duck.
If you can't see the difference there, I guess that's your problem, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the trolling I reported.

By the way, you might as well just shut down this section of the forum if you're going to be the one deciding what we are even allowed to complain about. 🤣

Since I’m actually moderating this thread myself, I find myself agreeing with Charles Fox10 regarding how things are being handled here.
This topic is a powder keg, and trying any other approach to moderation would just end up being counterproductive for both the discussion and the people involved.
That’s just my take on it...

Then please, just explain to me how the posts I mentioned in this thread fit into that "volatile" logic? That same individual has stormed in multiple times with 20 or 30 provocative comments, all designed solely to stir the pot.

By the way, just so nobody thinks people aren't getting sanctioned in that thread—I personally have five warnings! All from Charles Fox10. 🙂

I get my fair share of criticism, but even I can see this one isn't worth the hassle.
Now we just have to deal with the bureaucracy...
