Auto log-off after 10 minutes??

So, I’m sitting here trying to send a DM to one of the ladies on Reddit today. I spent maybe 15 minutes, or even longer, pouring my heart out into this long-ass message. Then, right when I hit "send," the screen just tells me I’ve been logged out 😕—and of course, my entire message just vanishes into thin air. It didn't send, and now I have to redo the whole thing because it was way too long to just wing again. Super stupid. Maybe try extending the login sessions on this site so this kind of crap doesn't happen 🙄>

If you actually checked that "remember me" box when you logged in, you shouldn't be getting kicked out on your own. The only exception might be if you were trying to send a message somewhere between seven and eight in the morning—we actually dealt with some annoying server lag during those early hours for a few months, which tended to trigger these kinds of glitches.

Wait, you mean the whole thing is gone? Which browser are you using? Try clicking back and opening a new tab instead—just log back in on that new tab and then try sending it again.

Honestly, feels like you guys are still dealing with constant issues. I’m getting logged out after just 5 minutes and I am totally over it. Seriously, just fix it already!

It’s honestly such a pain having to log in and out every single time when I'm using a shared computer.
Back in the day, you could just sign in—without checking that "remember me" box—and walk away from Reddit.

Once you guys fix this hassle, maybe bring back the dropdown menu too 🙂.

What you're describing happens to me constantly in the mornings, though there isn't really a specific timer involved; I'll log in, open a thread, and maybe fifteen seconds later when I go to hit reply, I'm suddenly logged out again... and yeah, it's strictly a morning thing, right around the same time you mentioned.

But what the others are talking about has always been an issue all day long. It's not quite as maddening as my morning glitch, and it doesn't happen if I stay active—like, if I just drop a few quick comments or replies, I stay logged in—but if I try to write a longer post, I'll almost always get auto-logged out within five or ten minutes, which is pretty annoying...
Unlike what Gary Hernandez4 is saying—though he might have missed the nuance—my message doesn't actually disappear. The login prompt just pops up, and once I sign back in, my drafted message sends itself automatically...

Man, good grief! 😂 I'm starting to see this pattern too—where it tries to log me back in automatically (it's got my username and password saved, so it’s just one click), but honestly, it's driving me crazy. I've been running into some really weird issues with logging in lately...
For instance, whenever I manage to log in, if I try to switch topics, I suddenly get kicked back to a screen that says I'm not even logged in. But then—get this—if I just hit the back button, I'm somehow logged back in again...
On top of that, while I'm typing in my username and password, I keep getting these random prompts asking if I want to reset my password. Or sometimes it'll actually accept a wrong password (it shows my username as active), but the second I try to click into a thread, it acts like I've been logged out... once more, if I go "back," I'm logged in...
Honestly, I'm starting to worry this might be some kind of FISHING attempt. It feels like someone might have messed with the login screen to try and scrape usernames and passwords—which, as we all know, happens way too often online these days.

Could one of the admins please take a look and see if there's actually some FISHING going on? This whole thing just feels totally off and definitely isn't normal. Thanks! :-)

Well, I just got logged out of my account on my own—my first time being kicked off Reddit after seven and a half years. It definitely feels like something is going wrong here. 🙂
