So, here’s the dealβ€”I was just hanging out watching a movie when the screen suddenly went black πŸ™‚ accompanied by this weird noise coming from the power supply, which then tripped the main switch and shut everything down. I’m running an EVGA 500 W1. I borrowed an EVGA Pro 550 W from a buddy to test things out, and while the PC actually boots now, it's taking way longer to get started than usual. Is it possible that cutting the power so abruptly caused some kind of lasting damage to the components? 🀷

Specs:
Intel Core i5-3570K (stock)
MSI 970 Gaming Motherboard
Seagate 500 GB Barracuda
Sapphire HD7770 (stock)
1Γ—8 Gb HyperX

P.S.: If this is in the wrong sub-forum, mods, feel free to move it.
Thanks!

And why is it taking longer? Is there anything showing up on the screen? Maybe try resetting your BIOS to the factory defaults

Is it just me, or is booting up taking forever, or is macOS itself just dragging its feet lately? If you think the OS is acting up, maybe try running a startup repairβ€”could be some weird glitch happened when the power cut out earlier.

If you mean the initial flash when entering the BIOS/UEFA, that’s normalβ€”it only shows for a second. The issue is definitely Windows. The welcome screen takes forever to load, and today I actually got a black screen after everything powered up; I sat there for about 10-15 seconds before the display finally popped up, and then I had to wait another minute and a half before things were actually usable. I don't even have many startup programs running (just Avast, Realtek audio, Catalyst Control, and uTorrent). I thought about doing a clean install of Windows, but honestly, I'm feeling too lazy for that... πŸ™‚ I'll probably just leave it for a few days to see if the lag persists, and if it does, I'll bite the bullet and reinstall. For context, I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64.
