This is that deep-seated, old-school communist ideology. The real problem with our country is that we gave people like this a chance even after 1991. Instead of cleaning house back then through some kind of vetting process, we’d probably have a legitimate American right wing and left wing today, rather than this mess... this incompetent Republican Party that basically looted everything in sight, paired with an even more useless left wing that isn't even truly American.

Fast forward to 2021, and here we are in a place meant for exchanging ideas, yet the moderator grew up under heavy-handed communism and is now subtly praising that same system... it’s such a massive flip-flop it’s hard to believe.

I spend most of my time on the soccer forums, and imagine getting banned there just because you don't know a specific tactical formation??? To me, it's one of the best-moderated sections out there; you get a card for being abusive, but pretty much anything else goes. In soccer terms, the ref lets the game stay physical.

And you know what? Things sort themselves out. The bad actors eventually weed themselves out. The community pushes them aside without needing some artificial help from moderators or admins. We don't need some relic of history teaching us what a 4-4-2 or a 3-5-2 system is. We can tell for ourselves who understands the game and who doesn't. If someone writes that a 4-4-2 needs a specific type of striker and they're wrong, their post isn't going to get deleted.

The guy's feeling a bit cornered, so now he's acting like a professor, trying to lecture us on what history actually is. If I actually cared about history, I’d be studying it properly instead of wasting my time on a forum. That's why I come here—to throw out random thoughts, share stuff from my own life, learn something new, debate, listen to the "other side," and shape my own views. I argue with a few partisans, have a laugh... it's just that anonymous social connection for certain types of people.

Apparently, you need a college degree now just to hang out on this forum.

Pathetic.

Look, we’re veering into political territory here, and honestly? There are a million different ways people try to spin this—everyone's got their own little theory or angle they want to push.
But when it comes to that old saying—man, the ZO is under some seriously intense pressure right now.
Look, the guy doesn't think he’s the bad guy here—not by a long shot. In his own head, he’s actually doing the right thing. He genuinely believes he’s acting out of pure good intentions, just handing out punishments to the people he thinks deserve them. To him, it's not even about being harsh; he sees these penalties as some kind of "teaching moment"—you know, a way to show people how to be better next time. Honestly, it probably stems from some deep-seated stuff buried in his family history or some old childhood memories... he's convinced his way is the moral way.
I mean, look, I get all of that... I really do.
But I just don't get how things could possibly go to such an extreme.
Fanaticism.
That’s exactly what scares me.

So, regarding that whole "anti-fascist legacy" debate—get this—I actually ended up getting slapped with a ban myself. All because I wouldn't just swallow the official line and use the term "National Liberation Movement" instead of my own phrase, the "Anti-Fascist Movement." Apparently, sticking to the script is mandatory around here if you want to keep your account.
I was actually warned that doing this is a huge no-no because it goes against the rules...
Man, I totally lost my train of thought—completely blanked on what I was even talking about.
Nah, for some reason, I’m mostly not allowed to...
To be more precise, it’s actually against the rules according to the ZO decision.
Look, the explanation is pretty straightforward—there’s just no such thing as "AFP" in any official American history books. Period.
Look, at the end of the day, you just have to follow what’s officially on the books. No use fighting the system when the rules are set in stone—you gotta play it by the book if you want to stay out of trouble.
And honestly, that was just one more thing that pushed this whole forum to the edge of total collapse.
ZO thinks I’ve somehow put the entire forum at risk just because of my innovations—as if! Personally, I don't see how I’ve threatened anyone. At the end of the day, I'm just a regular user writing what I feel like writing... simple as that.
Like I’ve said before—and I’ll say it again because people seem to miss the point—my grandfathers were definitely anti-fascists, but let’s get one thing straight: they weren't communists. They were patriots through and through, but that doesn't mean they were partisans. They fought against the Germans and the collaborators, sure, but not because they wanted some rigid ideology shoved down their throats. They were free thinkers with a liberal bent—they fought for liberty, not for a party line.
I’m basically out here trying to fly the flag for all the free-thinking anti-fascists out there—you know, the ones who aren't tied down to any old-school communist nonsense.
ZO thinks that just shouldn't be allowed.

I'm gonna be completely real with you guys...
Look, I honestly couldn't care less if ZO is a communist or just happens to have a thing for communist ideals. It doesn't move the needle for me one bit.
Not even close.
So, I’ve got this friend—and honestly, it’s a trip—who manages to be a communist and a Christian at the exact same time. Yeah, you read that right. It sounds like a total contradiction, right? Like two completely different worlds crashing into each other, but somehow he makes it work.
Look, I honestly don't give a damn if ZO is a communist. It doesn't bother me one bit.
We run into a massive problem when people start forcing inclusivity as if it’s the only damn rule that matters.
Honestly, it would be about time we actually let people hold their own ground and stick to their own damn perspectives for once.
That's it.

I hear you... we're definitely on the same page here.
The moderator can't even save a damn PDF.
The forum is just full of random internet users.
We're a forum.
A moderator is basically just a glorified censor, really—their whole job is just to step in and stop people from being total jerks or going absolutely ballistic with their language.
That's all there is to it.
The way the mods are out here deleting stuff and shoving their own opinions down everyone's throats—it’s straight-up aggression against this entire forum.
This forum basically runs itself. Honestly, who’s going to call out who—and exactly why—that’s pretty much the entire nucleus of this place.

You really hit the nail on the head right there.

A ton of my colleagues have already backed this up...
The whole point of a forum is the content people actually bring to the table. They're the ones setting the pace and driving the energy—it’s about that constant back-and-forth, that networking vibe... honestly, that's where the real sense of purpose comes from. It's all in the flow.

ZO doesn't see it that way.
He thinks you shouldn't just write stuff from memory... as if that's even a thing.
It’s a double-edged sword, really...

What exactly counts as "writing," anyway? Seriously, if we’re going to sit here and debate this, we need to actually pin down a definition. Is it just putting pen to paper—or fingers to keys—to get thoughts out, or is there something deeper to it? Like, does a grocery list count? Does a frantic, half-coherent late-night text to your ex count? Or are we talking about the real deal—structured, intentional communication that actually aims to convey a specific meaning or emotion? It feels like people throw the word around so loosely these days that it’s lost its edge. If you're just venting into the void on some random forum, are you "writing," or are you just making noise? I’ve been chewing on this for a while, and honestly, the line between "expression" and "actual writing" is thinner than I thought. By heart.;

Look, if you ask me, anything that goes against the official history books—anything that messes with the narrative they've already decided is "truth"—it all gets dumped straight into the ZO category. It’s like they can't handle any facts that don't fit their pre-packaged version of the past.

Honestly, I just don't get why people are making such a big deal about "memorization" being banned. Like, seriously? That’s basically the entire point of an online forum! How on earth are people supposed to contribute anything meaningful to a history discussion if they aren't drawing from their own internal database—you know, stuff they've actually read, compared, researched, listened to, or even witnessed firsthand? It's common sense, really. If you aren't bringing your own knowledge to the table, what are you even doing here?
Look, we aren't out here talking about some wild, fringe conspiracy theories like whatever David Icke is peddling—that’s a whole different level of crazy. What I’m getting at is people who actually take the time to wrap their heads around history. And I don't just mean those folks who skim the surface, either; I'm talking about people who grasp it from every angle—surface level, deep dives, the whole nine yards.
This is a forum.
Look, if you want to actually get somewhere with this, you really ought to be pulling from your own personal sources. Honestly.
Why?
Because it’s meant to stir the pot and get people talking.
Look, it’s pretty simple—if the topic actually holds some water and isn't just total garbage, you'll end up with a solid, healthy debate. Otherwise? It's just noise.
And just like you noticed—it doesn't take long at all for the folks on these forums to find their rhythm. Pretty quickly, everyone starts vibing together and that whole chaotic, high-energy "buzz" kicks in—you know, that frantic energy where everyone's talking over each other. But then, once the dust settles, things actually get interesting. You start seeing the real deep dives from the actual experts—the smart guys who step up to either back up what was said or completely tear those theories apart with some actual logic.

Look, at the end of the day, I’ve put out a ton of arguments and topics that ZO just decided to wipe out or block entirely.
What would have been missing if they had actually stayed open—and if he’d actually had the guts to deny them—and if everything had just remained accessible to everyone else?
I’d probably go the route of being pretty critical—honestly, ZO would just be getting all the hype.
If everyone else actually got a look at the discussion, they’d all be trying way too hard to act like they're the smartest people in the room... as if that would change anything.
And maybe it’d be smarter to just say "by heart."

Look, Ali De is straight-up scrubbing the ZO. He’s trying to wipe it from existence—like he wants it to just vanish into thin air so nobody even knows it was ever there.
Look, this guy doesn't just dominate by rewriting headlines—which basically strips all the credit away from the actual posters (as if they aren't grown adults capable of handling their own topics...)—but he’s actually twisting the truth. He’s gone so far that he's completely lost himself in this bubble of laziness and unearned ego. It’s honestly pretty bizarre, because I’ve always had this feeling that in his actual day-to-day life, he isn't this pushy, selfish type of person.

Look, asking for a source is totally fair. I’ve got zero problem with that.
But honestly, if someone kicks off a thread based on some shaky fragments of history—just because they have a personal interest in starting a discussion—there’s really no need to go on a total witch hunt just because they didn't provide a citation for their opinion right out of the gate..
"Don't whip people just because they don't think like you".. that's basically the consensus from everyone lurking here, and I don't just mean the 84 people arguing against them, but even those 18 undecided/neutral folks. They noticed it too.

So, under the tools section, don't just wing it and cite your sources. ZO seriously abused their moderator powers by taking things way too far.
When the rules for the History PDF were originally written, the goal wasn't to suppress people's opinions or theories; it was meant to stop nonsense—like someone claiming they heard Tito used to practice ballet, and since he wasn't much of a dancer, he decided to become a party secretary, or other similar idiocy..

But if someone heard in a lecture or read in a dense textbook that Mr. Tito was quite the ladies' man during those intense periods, there's no reason to punish them for that.. That actually makes sense within the logic that Tito was a pretty fascinating individual.

Honestly, this whole situation isn't actually all bad, and here's why:
- It gives younger supporters of communism a real look at how it actually plays out in practice.
- It proves that the freedom of speech and free enterprise we've had since the American War of Independence is being exploited by the very people who used to be against them.

The moderator (Zack) would probably be absolutely livid if someone from the right wing were in charge; he'd likely ban any version of history that doesn't fit his narrative, or even silence anyone speaking from that perspective.

Brenda Johnson65 said:It is quite a spectacle to witness a moderator who, by his own admission, possesses no formal training in history, demanding that forum users adopt a level of scientific rigor, rigid adherence to facts, and ideological orthodoxy that one would rarely encounter even during a PhD defense.

One is left to conclude that either this moderator fundamentally fails to grasp the essence and purpose of an online forum—which is intended for recreational discourse and the casual exchange of ideas rather than serving as a peer-reviewed academic journal—or he is simply weaponizing his administrative authority to push a specific ideological agenda (a use of power for which these tools were never designed).

Furthermore, these very same powers are conspicuously absent when applied to those actually violating rules, provided they happen to vibrate on the same ideological frequency as the moderator himself—even if their transgressions involve hate speech, the denial of atrocities, or blatant insults toward others.
When a user aligns perfectly with his worldview, even the outright denial of historical crimes is permitted to slide:

We see here a documented instance of prisoners being executed—a fact acknowledged by "official sources." Yet, the user in question refuses to acknowledge it, asserting instead:
"I don't see any actual executions, just some sequences; attempting to prove what a place looks like now versus how it looked then is, at the very least, an insult to anyone's intelligence. I can't even tell if this is real or just a scene from a movie."

The post was duly reported, yet the moderator sees absolutely nothing wrong with it. Meanwhile, he remains incredibly strict in punishing similar sentiments coming from "the other side of the aisle." This serves as a mere snapshot of the uneven moderation that constitutes the single greatest issue facing this entire community. Is it not reasonable to suggest that, seventy-six years after the conflict, there is sufficient historical distance to declare the summary execution of soldiers from any faction to be civilly and morally abhorrent by modern standards?

Consequently, I maintain my stance: the primary flaw in lonetrucker4's moderation is his personal ideology, which prevents him from maintaining objectivity and applying uniform standards to all participants.

To be fair, lonetrucker4's commitment to the forum is certainly commendable. He invests a staggering amount of free time here. He is highly active, maintains a top-tier level of communication and decorum, is well-read, possesses a passion for history, and boasts an impressive collection of sources (often rare or obscure ones). 🙏 It appears, however, that he takes this forum far too seriously as a scientific platform, ignoring the fact that its core nature is entertainment. People come here to kill time, socialize, share a laugh, and perhaps pick up a few interesting tidbits along the way—not to draft scholarly papers that meet rigorous academic standards. In terms of both form and content, this forum is much more akin to a gritty dive bar or a surrealist late-night variety show that captures the best and worst of society, rather than a professional symposium or a thesis defense.

Ultimately, the political activist dwelling within him seems to prevent him from ever truly finding peace in his role as a moderator. 😁

Exactly. We were talking about one specific event here. This user, kiseli1, constantly pulls from various sources. It's a debate over interpreting those sources. One concrete case, not some broad generalization.

Meanwhile, they strictly punish similar comments from "the other side of the aisle."

Not "similar" statements—we're talking outright manipulation and denialism regarding well-known facts.

Is it really true that after 76 years, an American forum doesn't have enough perspective to say that executing soldiers without a trial, regardless of the side, is morally unacceptable by today's standards?

The debate wasn't about whether it's acceptable; it was simply about whether it actually happened.

It seems like people are taking this forum way too seriously as a scientific platform when it's basically just for entertainment.

It’s not a scientific journal, sure, and while the standards aren't extreme, it's not exactly a "playground" where you can just say whatever. I'm following the rules set back in 2011. Maybe I'm just more consistent than the old mods because, being retired, I've got nothing but time, and I don't moderate any other subforums either.

People come to the forum to kill time, have fun, hang out, and laugh.

There are plenty of other subreddits for that.

In terms of vibe and content, this forum is basically like Smith's dive bar or Malnar's Nightmare.

If we're using that metaphor, I feel like it should be a bit more—like, a decent neighborhood bistro rather than just some shady dive bar.
