The motherboard I'm working with is an ASUS B85 Pro4.
So, like I mentioned in the title, Channel A is completely dead on me. I've already tried troubleshooting by swapping out different sticks—I tested both Crucial DDR3 1600 and some Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600—but nothing changes.
Basically, if I plug the RAM into any of the slots in Channel A, it just won't boot. It doesn't matter if I'm trying to run single channel or dual channel; Channel A is a total no-go. Only Channel B seems to be functioning at all. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this, or should I just return the board since it's brand new?
Thanks!

Their official website’s memory support list explicitly states that you need to use slots A2 and B2 to get dual channel working. You should probably dig through the manual a bit more—see if they mention anything else about mixing different sticks of RAM together.

I’ve tried every single combination possible—a1-b1, a2-b2, a1-a2, and b1-b2—but the only setup that actually works is b1-b2. I was testing with my two 4GB sticks, and I even swapped them out for some old 1GB sticks just to see if that changed anything.
Every time I try to put one or both sticks into an "a" slot, the BIOS throws a fit, reporting a Channel A error, and I get hit with that dreaded four-beep warning code.

Yeah, four beeps pretty much screams RAM error. You should check if there’s a newer BIOS version out there and try flashing it—sometimes a quick update fixes compatibility issues with certain memory sticks. If you flash the BIOS and it’s still acting up, just take it back to Best Buy and file a claim.
