Following up on that debate with brightpuma over at the German Reichsbahn that caught my eye, I’ve got a question for the mods:

What's the official word on Rommel?

The guy was an officer in the German military, but according to every source out there, he wasn't a Nazi.
Not to mention he was considered one of the finest tacticians of his era—so much so that even his allies respected him, maybe even feared him. 🤷

It shouldn't be any big deal if someone admires him enough to want his picture as an avatar or a quote in their signature... 🤷

On a related note, I’m wondering why a discussion about clear rules—specifically regarding who can and cannot be featured in an avatar—wasn't actually part of that thread about what constitutes a valid image, if I remember correctly, which I think was started by Slafko?

*The thread was deleted, and honestly, I can't quite recall who originally posted it, though Slafko did chime in there.

Anyway, it just seems a bit off to punish a user for something they did after they specifically asked for clarification, especially when the administration couldn't even tell them whether they were following the rules or not in the first place.

Slafko didn't actually frame his question in a way that allowed for a real answer. I was very upfront with him over on his own thread in the Rules & Guidelines section, making it clear that discussions regarding whether our guidelines might change are strictly for us behind the scenes—which is exactly what we’re doing right now. He received several warnings before the ban actually happened, so it definitely wasn't some random decision out of nowhere. And just a heads-up, we aren't going to turn this thread into a debate about why Slafko was banned.

As for how we handle the rules, I’ve mentioned before that there isn't a rigid, black-and-white rulebook for everything; instead, the admin team uses its discretion to make calls based on the guidelines we follow. When it comes to avatars, if we decide one isn't appropriate for the community, we don't just jump straight to a ban—we reach out to the user first to let them know and remove the image. Any attempt to upload that same avatar again after that warning is considered a direct act of defiance and a violation of our policies.

So, I wonder... is slafko actually right when he claims that having an avatar featuring Pinochet isn't really a big deal?

She’s definitely wrong on that one, but honestly, nobody has even bothered to report a user with an avatar like that yet.

Look, starting a whole thread just to ask about an avatar featuring Pinochet isn't really a way to signal that it's an issue or to explain why it shouldn't be one. If there's a problem, I guess you should just file a formal report.

Is there a specific form I need to fill out, or can I just submit a report directly?

All you really need to do is report a user's post and explain exactly what the issue is, or just shoot a quick DM over to one of the admins with a link to the content in question. You can always start a new thread about it too, though please make sure you include specific details so we actually know what we're looking at. Just a heads-up: vague complaints about rule-breaking won't really fly without substance—it’s best to take a quick look at the community guidelines first so you know what qualifies.

According to what I’ve been reading on English Wikipedia, Wittman served in the SS. Specifically, he was part of the 1st SS Panzer Division, which served as the personal guard for Adolf Hitler himself.

It's common knowledge that the SS acted as the armed wing of the Nazi Party—basically the heavy hitters used to enforce the regime's will.

So, when you look at all that, trying to argue that Wittman wasn't a Nazi just because there isn't an official Nazi Party membership card sitting in a file somewhere 🤷 is honestly just missing the point entirely. 😕

I don't want to start a whole new thread since this ties back into the discussion about avatars and signatures.

I’m thinking about adding this quote to my signature, but I wanted to check if it’s actually allowed here first?

"We have declared that we can only succeed through struggle—a hard and bloody struggle. A difficult and bloody fight awaits us. We will begin it and we will endure it, even if it costs us our lives."

Thanks for letting me know.

Don't forget about that specific point from rule regarding how you format your signature
—you know, the one that clearly states you have to credit the author of any quote you use.
2. ...format quotes using the system "quote (c) author."

What exactly are you hoping to accomplish by actually naming the people you're quoting?
I really hope you get where I'm coming from here.

I didn't notice that the Scotsmen signature actually lists the author of the quote 🤔

Does this mean the admin crew gets special privileges? 🤔 🤔

Raymond Ross33 said:If we already know all this, then claiming Wittman wasn't a Nazi just because his name isn't in some official registry or an NSDAP card hasn't surfaced 🤷 is honestly such a massive miss. 😕

It’s just so transparently bad-faith to throw out arguments like that if you actually want to have a constructive conversation—you know, like contributing something useful to the forum for once!
It feels more like someone's just trying to show off their own "qualifications" for a moderator spot.

😉

Is using terms like "Americ-" or similar variations allowed under the forum rules?
Personally, I don't think so—not according to the forum guidelines, and certainly not under current laws here in the United States.
Thanks in advance for clearing this up.

Is it okay to use a five-pointed star, a photo of Tito, or any other communist leaders in your profile picture? Just a reminder about the VE declaration that condemns communism as a totalitarian regime and draws a direct line between communism and fascism.
The US Congress also condemned communism in its own formal declaration.

For once, try to grasp the distinction: it isn't communism itself that has been condemned, but rather the CRIMES committed under the guise of communism.

Couldn't you make that exact same argument for Nazism? 🤷

Personally, I much prefer the term Katolibani Jamahiriya Rvatistan.
Hopefully, that isn't illegal and the religious police won't come knocking on my door. ☕

It’s irrelevant. Let’s just say I own a house in KDžR—now I have concerns. ☕

Since you don't live in America, I hope you get red-carded.
