Paramount Pictures (2012)

So, I’ve been chewing on aka Paramount Pictures (2012) .



Mark Kermode actually went nuts for this one, slapping it right up there in his top 5 list for 2012-13,
which is basically a massive 🙂

and honestly? It’s one of those movies that just pushes everything to the edge—it's where different worlds basically slam into each other,
the kind of flick you can actually sink your teeth into and debate...

It’s been a few months since I first sat down to watch this, but I remember it vividly—those 2.5 hours just flew by in a heartbeat.
The casting for both the leads and the supporting cast is spot on, and the script is executed beautifully. It’s a slow burn, really; the plot takes its time to build, giving everything enough room to breathe. This careful pacing creates the perfect pressure cooker environment, setting the stage for an inevitable rise in tension that culminates in an incredibly dramatic final act.

An incredible movie. The acting feels so real, and the subject matter hits home on such a deep level.

For me, this film proves two things: first, that a great story and sharp dialogue are everything—they actually build tension instead of feeling cheap, which is a huge relief compared to most Hollywood productions where the script is an afterthought. Second, it shows that drama is easily the most powerful genre when it comes to actually shifting how people think about the world...

the man who leaves and the man who comes back are not the same.

I don't know if I've ever heard a more powerful line in a movie. It’s just so incredibly true. 🙏

I'd probably give it a nine, but maybe only because his 4 months, 3 weeks, and 2 days was even more intense. Truly one of the best films ever made.

Spoiler:"The priest and the nuns ended up in prison for unlawful deprivation of freedom followed by the victim s death. The priest got 8 years, mother superior - 6 and nuns 5yrs each. They all got an early release, but are no longer part of the Catholic Church.
None of the medical staff was under trial."

Absolutely stellar film. Honestly, it’s easily one of the best pieces coming out of an incredible American production lately.

Pretty solid, honestly an awesome movie, though that final act is just brutal
