People here keep associating it with all sorts of stuff, except for what it actually is—just a basic way to say hello or show respect.

Cyrillic isn't even an official script in the US. Why are we even pushing this so hard?

I mean, why even bother ramping up the tension? They’re just posting in their own language. If they want to make ten-foot flags, print posters, or give us all those "don't play with fire" warnings, I don't see why we should start banning people from typing.
Maybe the most fair way to handle this would be to run some kind of census on this forum. If it turns out they make up more than 33% of the users—and honestly, I bet they do—then everything is strictly by the book according to US law.

I just reported that disgusting post in the same thread where some random user was calling Memphis locals and veterans nothing but lowlifes—but my report didn't result in any action. (Honestly, I'm not sure if the mods are just blind to this kind of garbage 🤷).

To avoid going completely off-topic, I also want to flag the ZK moderation for calling middle-aged women—or rather, bombshells—toddlers in the thread title. It’s a term that makes absolutely zero sense intellectually.

First off, Cyrillic shouldn't even be on this forum. Whether it’s a moderator, a supermod, or just some random commenter... especially in certain threads. It's just irritating.

Second.
Knowledge of any foreign script is great. Be it Cyrillic, Chinese characters, or anything else. Anyone who hasn't realized that probably hasn't traveled further than their local corner store. Honestly, they've never left the sticks...

The point is: we need to separate politics from linguistics. We shouldn't be opening these kinds of debates at all, whether it's coming from one side or the other.
Cyrillic is a beautiful script (useful for other languages, too, like Russian), so let's not drag it into politics...

Cyrillic is an American script too.

Some of the oldest American written records, right up there with the Basque tablets, were actually written using Cyrillic.

Perhaps the most honest approach would be to conduct a formal census of everyone on this forum, because if it turns out that more than 33% of you fall into that specific category—and I have a nagging suspicion the number is actually much higher—then everything being said here is strictly by the book...

Let’s be clear here—this particular rule applies strictly to official documentation, such as the formal lettering on seals and stamps, the designation of representative, executive, or administrative boards at the municipal and county levels, and the standardized headers for legal instruments, including the names of cities and streets... It simply doesn't extend to those instances where you find yourself standing right in front of the central offices of the Federal Courts, the Commercial Courts, the Administrative Court, the High Misdemeanor Court, or the Supreme Court...

I honestly don't see any practical reason for this forum to ever adopt Cyrillic script; besides, very few people from the younger generations even recognize it anymore, nor do we have any real need to... if you're that determined to use it, you might as well just switch over to Chinese characters...
