Sam Alvarez4 said:You shouldn't call her that, but you could use the acronym A.M.I.N.A.... or just call her what she really is: R.A.M.B.I.

She’s definitely pretty and charming, though... that much is true...

As long as this guy gets away with his behavior—and gets his posts about how he "satisfied" a fellow user deleted without any actual consequences—he and his buddies will keep posting total nonsense. They know they're untouchable...

There needs to be zero tolerance for people like that. And for the mods who cover for them by scrubbing their insults instead of handing out bans. No excuses...

I'm certainly not giving you any credit for this one, @rustydrifter10.

"....and look at Rambo, she's just projecting her own reality and rambling about some schizophrenic delusions that only exist in her head....."

Will one of the moderators on the Syria thread finally clarify that I am NOT Rambo?!
You have my IP and you have hers. Enough already! 😠

If I started calling people Joe, Steve, or Herb, I’d be banned before I could even blink...

I just finished typing this up a second ago. Go ahead and report it if you need to, so the mods can take a look and weigh in on things.

Alright, seriously, isn't this enough already? Setting aside whatever my personal take is on the OP, I honestly can't deal with reading this anymore. Posting about clones is against the rules, yet here we are at her hundred-and-fiftieth thread reporting the exact same issue. I truly don't care if she’s Rambo, Bambi, or whatever—I just think the mods need to tighten up the penalties for people who constantly call someone out as a clone.
If she's a bot, just ban her. If she isn't, then strip those people of their status for calling her Rambo. It’s getting exhausting for everyone involved. Look, if someone wants to talk trash, they should just say she's stupid, annoying, irritating, or even worse... just be direct. But this "subtle" thing where they claim she's a clone? That's what's killing us. For that first offense, they should be getting way heavier strikes, and honestly, after fifteen bans, most people would probably just give up. At this rate, this behavior is going to drag on through the entire administration.

There it is.

Sam Alvarez4, I totally get where you're coming from. People keep calling me cosmicskipper39 like it's some kind of insult. Honestly? It used to drive me absolutely insane behind closed doors.
But whatever. I don't even bother reporting them anymore because let's face it—that's exactly what they want. It just gives them more fuel for the fire.

Maybe you should try a different approach too. Instead of getting worked up, just drop a comment in the chat like, "Hey Rambo, we see what you're doing." It’s way easier and way more effective than wasting your breath reporting a bunch of trolls who are clearly just messing with you anyway.

And once they realize they’re hitting fertile ground, they double down. Honestly, the best move is just to ignore them. They usually back off pretty fast when they don't get the reaction they were fishing for. 😉

I really don't care if she's Rambo, Bambi, or whatever else they call her, but I think the mods should start handing out heavier penalties for people who keep dogpiling on someone by labeling them a clone.
If she’s a bot, just ban her, and if she isn't, then strip those people of their privileges for calling her Rambo constantly. They're becoming an absolute nuisance to everyone... If they want to tear her down, let them just say she's annoying, irritating, or even worse, but this whole "she's a clone" act is getting old. If they actually used insults instead of these accusations, they'd be racking up way more warnings, and maybe after the fifteenth strike, they'd finally get the hint. As it stands, they could keep this up until the end of the administration...

there you go.

Exactly, it's become obnoxious and just plain disrespectful at this point. It's like they just get their posts deleted or handed some minor warnings, and then they just carry on as usual... At this stage, they aren't just mocking Sam Alvarez4, they're making a mockery of the entire site administration.

From what I’ve gathered, posts get flagged for moderation pretty regularly, and if someone keeps racking up those violations, they start getting hit with even heavier penalties. Direct bans—you know, once someone hits that 100+ point threshold—don't seem to happen automatically, at least not as far as I can tell right now.

rustydrifter10 said:From what I understand, those posts usually just get flagged, and people who do it repeatedly end up getting more warnings. As far as I know, direct bans—you know, the ones where someone hits over 100 points—haven't really happened yet, at least not lately.

I guess the real question is, when do we think it’ll be time to take much tougher action? This is starting to get annoying even for the folks who just lurk to read about Syria without really knowing how things should be handled. I mean, if the mods actually tackled this head-on, it would probably be easy to weed out these kinds of outbursts. If someone is determined to be provocative, they can probably just shrug off a 100-point penalty.☕

Please report posts like this using the flag icon. If you don't see any moderator action within the usual 24-hour window, feel free to open a thread with the FBI.

Oh, come on Charles Fox10, stop lecturing us!
I've been complaining about this for months. Months!!
You have my IP, you have Rambo's IP... you know perfectly well we aren't the same person.

It’s honestly disgusting, not to mention that "satisfaction" comment from a few days ago. I haven't seen such filth in ages. Except here.
Of course, they just deleted it.

So you do delete things?
Obviously you do—gotta protect your own. Everyone else would have been banned ages ago.

I'm done. This hypocrisy is just sickening.

Good luck to you all. I'm out of here... goodbye.
(I left The Washington Post, then I left The New York Post... I don't see how you guys are any better.)

I’m not trying to be philosophical here; I’m just laying out how things should run. You report a post, the moderators react, and only then can we debate why an action was taken. Otherwise, there's no way to tell if a deleted post actually warranted a ban.

And you aren't Rambo—we all know that, and if I recall correctly, we've already addressed this once before.

If you're going to post, go ahead. We'll moderate to the best of our ability, and it certainly helps if someone flags something along the way.

Charles Fox10 said:I’m not trying to get all philosophical on you; I’m just laying out how I think things ought to work. We should probably just stick to reporting the posts and seeing how the moderators react first. I guess we can only really start debating why a certain post was left up or ignored once we see if there actually is a response from them. Maybe that's the best way to handle it, keeping things calm for now. I guess you can never really tell if a deleted post was also permanently banned from the system, right? Maybe it’s just hard to know for sure.

Hmm... are you actually reading what people are saying to you?
I suppose you could call it an appropriate response. Maybe. I mean, looking at how things played out, it seems like the right way to handle it, I guess. It felt pretty measured, all things considered. I'm sorry, I think there might have been a bit of a typo or an incomplete thought there. I wasn't quite sure what you were getting at with that one! If you meant to ask something or share a particular thought, please feel free to expand on it. I'm all ears and happy to chat whenever you're ready. It seems like we missed the mark entirely, and now here we are, still debating the same old issues. Honestly, I guess that whole idea of deleting the record—and potentially facing that 35-point penalty—clearly didn't achieve what it was supposed to. It feels like they might as well just take that penalty on the chin and factor it into their calculations right from the start, rather than dealing with all this unnecessary provocation later on. Maybe that would have been a more straightforward approach.
And you aren't Rambo—we already know that, and if I recall correctly, we’ve actually mentioned that once before.

No kidding, Sherlock. But honestly, do you really think they aren't aware of the situation? I mean, do you think their whole motivation isn't driven by what they actually believe Sam Alvarez4 is acting like? It's probably more complicated than that, I guess.
Just let me know if you’re planning on posting anything. We’ll be right here handling the moderation as best we can, and I guess if someone happens to flag a post along the way, it might make things a little easier for us.

If this really represents the absolute peak of what you guys can offer, then I suppose there’s no reason to hold onto human expertise—you might as well just let software take over entirely. As for that whole bit about reporting issues and making things easier? Honestly, that was addressed ages ago. You pointed out a long-standing problem, sure, but after that, the ball was firmly in your court to actually handle it.

Look, there's no way for you to know if a post was fake or "cardboard" if it’s already been wiped from the board.
The only way you'd actually know is if you were using a burner account to write the damn thing yourself.

Honestly, I’m just over trying to argue against your assumptions at this point. It’s exhausting.

Other people's shady posts—even the ones that get deleted—have absolutely nothing to do with you.

Linda King said:Deleting a post and handing out a 35-point penalty clearly didn't do the trick. It seems like they just swallow the penalty, factor it into their math, and then go right back to being provocative anyway.

Look, people constantly try to game the system when it comes to penalties, which is why they don't just escalate instantly into an outright ban. The moderators have a specific framework for handling trolling, insults, and other rule-breaking; if you're a repeat offender, the sanctions usually get tougher, and that’s exactly what happened here. From what I can see, the mods are actually doing their jobs. People who break the rules will keep breaking them, and the administration will keep trying to step in and penalize them. This isn't some unique situation that requires us to invent a whole new way of punishing folks.

West Indies, I really hope you don't decide to walk away from the forum—please reconsider. I honestly don't know why people think you're Rambo or why they call you that, but those kinds of posts won't fly here. All we need to do is report them so they get penalized and taken down.
