Austin Harris8 said:No, it’s not okay. Permanent bans should only happen if a user explicitly asks for their account to be deleted—that's the only time a permanent ban makes sense. In any other case, it doesn't.
Permanent bans work fine—they filter out people who can't hold a conversation without breaking the rules.
The rule needs to be expanded.
Maybe a little.
The rules should include specific details regarding the bans.
🤣
They're already defined: you know how long they last, if there's a duration. You also know you can't use a different handle while banned. That covers everything.
How to return after a ban expires.
After a ban expires? If it's three days, you just come back. If it's a Partial, you come back when the mods say so. Why? Because a Partial doesn't "expire."
Ban duration and such.
When you're banned, it tells you when it ends—assuming it actually ends.
I feel bad if that isn't your reasoning, because viewing Partials as permanent bans or just things done at the mods' whim isn't good for the Reddit itself.
That's not my reasoning—it's just how it is. Ask anyone.🤷 A Partial is effectively permanent, though you get the chance to request removal after six months.
It's a fine system, since the same mods are the ones handing out the Partials. If they don't see a reason to lift it, there isn't one.
I could list everything the Partial rule fails to address, and you really have the nerve to say it's enough?🙂
You've said quite a lot 🤷
I'm telling you plainly how this works—your attempt to frame the rules to suit your own interests is your problem, not mine. It’s simple: a Partial is just like a moderator-issued ban.
To get a moderator-issued ban lifted, you need their permission.
Read what I wrote above again; everything is clearly laid out.
Let me repeat: a Partial is essentially a permanent ban, though they occasionally lift them if the moderators feel like it.
I won't repeat myself—go back to the previous post and read it, and read it a few more times if necessary.
Same goes for you. Try reading things exactly as they are written, without twisting them. 🤷
Of course, rules can't cover everything. The point is that the current guidelines regarding Partials and bans are far too thin, and I've provided facts that could be used to expand them. Expanding the rules would reduce user confusion on Reddit, rather than having users constantly asking questions about Partials, bans, and so on.
The reality is you know exactly what the rules are and how Partials work. You're trying to play the "it wasn't written down, so it doesn't apply to me" card, but nobody is naive enough to buy that.
I'm not looking for mercy from anyone; I'll just keep enjoying my arguments against you all. Besides, it's good that users will see there are plenty of loopholes in the moderation.
If we're talking loopholes, this thread should have been locked, especially since the admin told you two months ago that you can only appeal after six months.
And your only actual argument is "Vanguard 🙂"
Oh sure, you're only responding because you're bored... 🤣
Actually, yeah. What business do I have with you or this appeal? 🤷
I'm not doing this because of getting Partials lifted anymore; I'm doing it on principle—just like when I started my thread on N/A about Partials, mostly out of principle.
So, once again, you're starting a thread about lifting a Partial where you ask for a Partial to be lifted, even though you aren't actually asking for one to be lifted. 🤦
| Look, I'll keep responding—civilly, logically, and with actual substance—if you guys are still interested. Not that it matters much—it’s always easier to just blame some guy on Reddit—but at least everyone else can see what's actually going on here. |
What did they see? They saw you playing dumb when you clearly know exactly what's happening—trying every trick in the book to dodge a ban you rightfully earned.
Yup, that's definitely going to help you out 🤣
