And that applies to everyone—including people on this Forum. I don't get why he’s specifically targeting the moderators. 😁 If he feels some moral obligation to call it in, he can go ahead and do it himself. It reminds me of those neighbors who sit around judging each other for not calling the cops when they hear domestic violence through the walls, acting like they couldn't just pick up the phone and dial 911 themselves. It’s always easier to dump the responsibility onto someone else.

There is a distinction here.

Essentially, the moderators and the rest of the staff have an IP Address—which, in the context of a mandatory reporting obligation, creates a massive difference between reporting that "someone somewhere" is assaulting their partner versus reporting that Paul Bunyan is doing it.

Basically, moderators and staff have an IP Address. When you factor in mandatory login requirements, that turns the difference between reporting that "someone somewhere" is hitting their partner versus reporting that Paul Bunyan is doing it.

That's pretty far from the truth.
First off, what we can see isn't something we're allowed to just pass around, and frankly, it wouldn't be enough to take action against anyone anyway.
If there's actually enough cause to launch an investigation, the police—or whoever is handling it—will go through official channels to get everything they need from the Forum, and they'll be looking for a lot more than just an IP Address.

So, if someone thinks a law is being broken, it would be great if they just stepped up, took some responsibility, and reported it properly. 🙂

You've got a point there; I guess I overstepped when I brought up passing around IP Addresses—you know, the whole court order and legal procedure thing... My apologies 🙈.

At least give me some credit for that comparison to reporting an assault... it was a pretty sharp one, wasn't it? 😢

Simply 😳
