Scabies, itching, whatever you want to call this nightmare... I don't care about the labels, I just want to know how to fix it. Is there actually an effective cream out there to stop this constant itching? I was browsing the Pfizer website and saw mention of Permethrin 5%, but when I go to the local pharmacy, they act like I'm speaking a foreign language?? NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THEM KNOWS WHAT IT IS!!! And honestly, Benzyl Benzoate? Total waste of time. It does absolutely nothing.

I think I actually picked up that nasty stuff about two years ago while I was visiting someone at the hospital.
I ended up using that Johnson's Baby cream—the one with the light-colored lid, if I remember correctly—and it seemed to help me out quite a bit.
I believe it was called Johnson's Baby or something like that.
They had it over at CVS and a few other places, so you might want to check there.

Seriously though... I'm heading out tomorrow specifically to grab that cream. Honestly, after all the money I've wasted on this already, it'll probably be nothing, right? Hehe... well, let's see what happens. 🙂

Hello everyone. I’m reaching out here in the hopes that someone might be able to help me. I am currently six months pregnant, and for quite some time now, I have been dealing with this unbearable, relentless itching on my hands, palms, and feet. After being bounced around through several incorrect diagnoses from my primary care doctor, my OBGYN, and
even my dermatologist, it has finally been confirmed that I have Scabies. I am honestly in shock and just feeling so much disbelief. I went back to get it confirmed one more time because I can't wrap my head around it. I am asking anyone who has dealt with this to please recommend a private dermatologist to me—it doesn't matter where they are located, I just need someone who actually knows how to handle this, rather than a revolving door of specialists giving me the wrong answers. I am willing to travel to any city if necessary. At this point, I don't trust anyone in my local area; I just want to be cured before my baby arrives. If you aren't comfortable advertising a name publicly, please just send me a private message. Thank you all.

Make sure to talk to your OBGYN first to weigh the risks to the baby before using any topical treatments.
You need to deep-clean your entire living space, including all clothing, bedding, and furniture.

You can always order that cream through eBay or Amazon. It shouldn't cost more than a hundred bucks at most. Since it ships from the United Kingdom or the United States, you're probably looking at maybe seven business days max for delivery—likely even sooner. If you can swing it, I'd definitely recommend ordering it.

Seriously? You just used that? How long did it take you to get rid of them with just that? Did you disinfect the house, your clothes, and everything else? I would be so incredibly grateful for any extra info you can share. P.S. If you can find a picture of that cream, please do! There are so many different versions, so I want to make sure we have the right one 🙂.

Go see a doctor. There’s an outbreak of that itching going around right now, so if you've got it, your whole household probably does too. You all need to get treated at once, otherwise, you're just playing a game of ping pong with the infection. Don't go experimenting on yourself—you're pregnant, and if I were in your shoes, I wouldn't be rubbing random stuff on my skin.

The only thing I can't wrap my head around is how she could walk away with a confirmed diagnosis and a second opinion, yet walk out without a single specialist prescribing anything or even offering a shred of advice on next steps. I mean, given that she’s pregnant, wouldn't you think she would have been the one asking them what to do about it?

Well, obviously they prescribed her benzyl benzoate lotion after she mentioned the other stuff wasn't working.
From what I can tell, she’s having a hard time actually believing the doctors when they say the itching is real...

You can order Rogaine cream, though just a heads-up—it hasn't been tested on pregnant women. Back in the day, Pfizer used to make Eurax.

Here's a good article about itching.

Where did she post that? 🤷
The thing is, when you're pregnant, doctors won't touch any kind of live medication. My doctors refused to give me Clarityne for my allergies—even though I know some people swear it's safe to take during pregnancy—but I had asthma attacks in the past, so they weren't taking any chances.
It’s a mess, plain and simple. They'll have to weigh the risks.

I haven't been following this thread super closely.
In the first post, someone was talking about benzyl benzoate, which goes all the way back to 2011. Then Daniel Nguyen5 chimed in back in 2014, replying to that older post and suggesting she pick up some cream from Walgreens...

Honestly, since she mentioned being pregnant along with that itching on her palms and soles, my mind went straight to cholestasis.
Has she had any blood work done yet to rule that out?

Hey everyone!

I somehow managed to pick up this nightmare called Scabies. I think I'm still in the early stages since there aren't any open sores yet—just some tiny water blisters that you can only see if you're really looking closely... but man, the itching is unbearable, especially when I'm trying to sleep. I've been using benzyl benzoate for four days now, but the itching hasn't let up at all. I've already bagged up all my laundry and sealed everything tight—it'll be sitting there for at least a week. As for my bedding, underwear, undershirts, towels, and rags, I'm running everything through the wash at 140-190°F. I'm just stuck on what to do about the mattress, pillows, the living room sofa, and all those things I can't toss in the washer—plus, I can't exactly drag them outside for a week or two either...

Please share your experiences and how you dealt with this, because right now I feel like this stuff is everywhere in my apartment—in every corner, my notebooks, my laptop, door handles, etc., etc. I was thinking about picking up some Permethrin 5% as well, just to be safe and coat myself in that too... or maybe something else, I don't even know...

I really need some urgent advice here. I picked up some kind of itch somewhere and it’s been dragging on for two months now. Benzyl benzoate didn't do the trick, so I tried using Scabies gel twice. My doctor claims it's gone, but the itching has been intense for two weeks straight—especially at night. Now I'm seeing these little dark spots appearing, and my face and scalp are starting to itch too. She prescribed a cream for dry skin and soothing irritation, but it isn't helping at all. I'm just not sure if I should start applying the treatment again...
