Speaking from experience here. I have plenty of friends who are still stuck in their 30s listening to nothing but the Sex Pistols, Exploited, and whatever else. It’s a sad sight.
Again, that's just my take based on people I know. It doesn't apply to every middle-aged punk out there.

There's enough subtext here to write a whole book... way too many variables at play.
The punk didn't die; the aesthetic just sort of melted away. Besides, screw the punk look if you're dropping over $150 on some high-end sneakers and even more on an Esprit combat jacket.. 🙄 Then again, maybe you aren't really a punk at all. 😁.. Given that I was a broke-as-hell punk back in the day, nobody would ever be able to pin down my label. 🤷
As for the music and the attitude? There's plenty of both. Between these aging fossils and the kids coming up, I’ve always viewed punk as a mindset—a way of thinking—rather than just what you wear or what's on your playlist..
Of course—without getting boggedzy into the sociological or technological nuances—you can't exactly limit yourself to one single genre at 33 years old with the entire world's discography at your fingertips. Still, I'll have days where I just loop Idiot or DOA for forty-eight hours straight. And the attitude? It's still there.. buried deep.. suppressed.. You need a job, you need to pay the mortgage.. and most bosses don't appreciate being flipped off. 😁

Music exists to trigger emotion.. whether it's some upbeat flute and triangle concert at Amol or someone screaming lyrics over three power chords. Beauty is entirely in the ear of the beholder. 🙂
