It’s 7 AM on a Saturday, and instead of catching some extra sleep, I’m wide awake dealing with this throat pain. It’s been nagging at me for two days—nothing major at first, just thought it was a standard sore throat. Honestly, I usually just power through minor stuff without even thinking about calling a doctor.
But since the pain started ramping up, I decided to actually check things out—see if my throat was actually red or what the deal was.
The second I looked, I spotted this dark spot on my left tonsil. Look, I get pretty paranoid about medical stuff I don't understand. A little cold or a slight fever? Doesn't phase me; I'll handle it myself. But this is new. My brain immediately jumped to the worst-case scenario—cancer. Then I tried to calm myself down with whatever medical trivia I know—like, throat or tonsil cancer is incredibly rare before you hit thirty, and I'm only 21. So, I'm using that to stay sane, but the paranoia is still hitting hard.
It's Saturday, my doctor isn't seeing patients until Monday, and I'm sitting here totally clueless. Is this dangerous? Is it temporary? Do I need actual treatment? I have no idea.
Does anyone know anything about this? Any advice or even a solid link would be huge. I've been Googling, but everything comes up as white spots on the tonsils—which is usually just strep—but that doesn't even come close to what I'm looking at.🙂
Thanks in advance.
