Jesse Garcia86 said:this whole debate makes me think we're actually heading in the right direction for the Black Knights to get even better. I've heard people say there's nothing smart to be found on this forum, but today proved there are plenty of sharp minds here... we just need to let people talk and share their views without all the tension. I don't know about you guys, but I'm happy we had such an open, loud discussion today. Everyone who jumped in said what they thought, and that's what matters most. As long as we keep having these talks, the Black Knights will stay strong... nobody can shut us down like some people predict. Peace to everyone, hope we all take something good away from today... 😉

straight up👍

Joseph Harris5...—Look, I'm a fan too, and I don't think anyone's required to list their own team's lineup, right? Where is this coming from? It's not like someone asks you for the roster before you step into a scrum at a football game.
I honestly think you're totally misreading the situation here—and doing it out loud, too..
Why though?
Cheers.

Joseph Harris5 said:A supporter doesn't necessarily need to be able to list every single player on the roster—be it for this club or any other. It sounds ridiculous, sure, but it’s the truth. You can say whatever you want, but just think back to how your life as an Ultras member actually started. Nobody joins the Black Knights because they have a deep, encyclopedic knowledge of the squad; you join because there's something deeper burning inside you. It's about proving yourself—measuring your strength against other crews, showing who's tougher, who has the better presence, the visual identity, the sheer grit... all that stuff that transcends football, or what we might call having "balls." I have a buddy from the stands—someone with decades of seniority—who didn't even know what a defensive midfielder was until two years ago, and he used to think a winger was just "anyone playing on the side." But that guy? He knows every single move the American supporter scene has ever made—who was where, what happened, when, and how. For us, it's about more than just the game. Even when our guys move abroad to live in Europe, they often end up joining local crews over there. That's my point. Being an Ultra is something you feel in early puberty—is it more of a rush when your neighborhood crew dominates another group, or is it the thrill of seeing our boys beat a rival on the pitch? It's a thin but massive distinction! I remember exactly when the Ultra spirit took over me from being just a fan of the club. I realized the adrenaline hit harder being with my crew than watching the actual match.

Being a Black Knight and being a fan of the team aren't the same thing. There are fans who have traveled ten times more than some Black Knights, who remember scores from thirty years ago, and who show up to every single practice, but they will never be true tifosi because they simply haven't awakened that part of themselves.

I’d love to give a full rebuttal here, but I should probably stick to the rules and it's getting late—got things to do in the morning—so I'll write a bit more tomorrow. I completely get what you're driving at and some points stand, but I definitely disagree on several others.🙂

Walter Jones8, old friend, you have your facts completely skewed. You’re operating on an outdated timeline. Personally, I maintain a deep knowledge of the roster because I actually care; I have databases that track everything from the youth prospects to the veterans, and even if you ask my system who plays for the local powerhouse, it’ll give you "Cvita" every single time. We are all more deeply entrenched in this than you realize, bound together by our shared identity as Ultras, haha.
Just let them finally engage in some constructive dialogue without us constantly sniping at them; frankly, everyone finds the endless bickering exhausting. If you start a thread dedicated specifically to your group, you just end up inviting a bunch of idiots from other factions to come in and act like clowns... peace out.
