Flying Kamui Kobayashi 😁

He’s certainly "flying through the air," isn't he? Tomorrow’s race should be quite interesting on that particular section, provided the organizers don't suddenly decide to lower those curbs.
I haven't been following the free practice sessions too closely, so I would ask you all to clarify: who exactly is closing in on Red Bull Racing—the one whom Lewis Hamilton claims is simply impossible to catch once they are out on the track?
Meanwhile, Ferrari seems to be boasting about their current form.

Oh, absolutely. It’s magical. And just far enough away. It’s one of those places where you catch yourself wishing you could just stay there—and maybe not head back home for a little while.

That was a solid move, my friend. If they can just replicate that performance during qualifying, a victory is practically within reach. Especially if the rumors are true and this track is an absolute tire killer.

It looks like Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso were playing it a bit safe during the final practice session; they definitely weren't pushing for the absolute limit

Jergović jumped at yet another chance to hype up Lewis Hamilton while throwing shade at Schumacher Dijaković🙂
Dijaković is just obsessing over that sweepstakes thing again 😁

Finally, Mark Webber might actually get a decent start for once.

Let him get a good start and let Vettel mess it up.😬.

I'm watching the Germans.

When is qualifying actually going to wrap up? 5:00, 5:30...?

I’ve got this whole routine down where I watch practice and qualifying on ESPN, but then I switch over to the BBC for the actual race. Man, watching the race on the BBC is such a vibe, honestly. 🙂

As for qualifying, it should be done by 5:00 PM since they kick off at 4:00 PM here in the States.

Heh, thinking back to how some people were whining after Canada about how Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull Racing were just cruising through everything...
😁
Unless something absolutely insane happens to shake things up, the next few seasons pretty much belong to them.

According to some sort of law of large numbers, Red Bull Racing and Sebastian Vettel should have tripped up by now.
But even so, fans of the other teams and the drivers themselves probably shouldn't pin too much hope on
something like that happening. Just when I thought there was little chance he could hold his own against
McLaren and Ferrari at Monza, he went out and absolutely dominated them. Tomorrow, I wouldn't go betting big
odds on anyone else winning, but sometimes that tiny 1% chance feels like a massive opportunity.

Is this the actual pace of the Ferrari, or are we all just experiencing a collective delusion?
Fernando Alonso sits in FP3, trailing Sebastian Vettel by a mere 0.051 seconds with a lap time of 1'46.396.
Mark Webber always seems to dominate during FP, only to stumble when it actually matters during qualifying or the race itself.
Today’s fastest FP3 time stands at 1'46.081.
Felipe Massa is currently over 2.5 seconds behind the leader, Mark Webber. What kind of "surprise" are Massa and Ferrari trying to pull on us here? I find it impossible to believe they are truly this slow compared to the frontrunners, especially considering how much that gap behind Fernando had narrowed over the last few races.🤷

FP sessions aren't really a reliable indicator of a car's true speed.

That boyish-looking current champ might look nice, but he’s an alpha male through and through. I’m betting any kind of tactical letting-through isn't happening. Besides, most of his competition has been swept aside lately, and frankly, not even the best talent. He won't climb higher than the podium even if he tries, so he'll just take whatever he gets and call it a win.

In this setup, a win is really the only trophy that matters to anyone else—it's the only way to soothe the ego. Anyone claiming second place is a success is lying to themselves. And don't forget, the McLaren drivers are fighting each other too (at least, that's how it looks to me, which is pretty significant).

My money is on Lewis Hamilton. He's crazy and ambitious enough to take massive risks on that concrete and asphalt combo, all while driving incredibly fast and precise. For him, this is the one that matters most.

Michael Lee4 said:Qualifying has become even more boring than free practice 🤦 nobody actually drives; they just sit there, pull one flying lap, and whoever grabs a decent spot wins.

I feel the same way about teams getting into Q3 only to stay tucked in the pits—just managing tire wear or whatever.
Total snooze fest.
Though, I suppose I get it—Elizabeth Hughes messed things up with those tire set limits, so they're basically forced into this behavior during qualifying.
