How to explain elementary physics to a mathematician? (Post deletion?)

I noticed some of the recent posts in this thread were wiped. Why's that? Was it because they drifted off-topic? Honestly, I think the question that user asked (the one I replied to) would have been better served by spinning it off into its own dedicated thread over at "natural science." That way, they actually get the help they need instead of just having everything deleted. Thanks 🙂

It seems Demosthenes misread the thread title entirely. If he had taken a moment to actually read the opening post or follow the flow of the discussion, he would have realized his question belonged somewhere else entirely.

It’s a bit like someone starting a thread about modes of transport—specifically regarding electrical carriers in semiconductors—only to have someone else reply by listing cars, planes, and ships. :mig

Sure, we can do that if you're going to be that persistent about it.
Since we're essentially just talking high school level physics here, it would probably fit best in the physics corner for students.
