Larry Walker24 said:That final scene where Mark Wahlberg shows off his pride—well, he’s definitely got something to brag about.

Are you kidding me? 😂That's nothing.

cosmiclynx57 said:If this had been filmed just three years later—say, back in 2000—I’d call it absolute garbage; you wouldn't even be able to see his bare ass in it. 😛

Look, it isn't and shouldn't be the case that people think I have some sort of vendetta against movies made after 2000—that's just not true. What I actually said was that there are exceptions, and plenty of them, including top-tier masterpieces; my point was simply that modern cinema lacks that specific "soul" it used to possess (again, credit where credit is due for the outliers), and that’s really all there is to it... everyone is entitled to their own subjective take, and that happens to be mine.🙂

I've been rewatching some scenes, and man, that opening is just incredible—everything happens in one single shot. 🙏

I've been rewatching some scenes lately—that opening sequence is just powerhouse stuff, everything captured in one continuous shot. 🙏

It’s an incredible film; even now, I struggle to wrap my head around how they actually pulled this off... I could watch certain sequences twenty thousand times over. It’s like those movies where the actors play characters who are complete idiots and clearly don't know how to act—you know what I mean? It reaches that level where the performances are so layered that they're essentially acting like they can't act in specific moments, hahaha—not to mention everything else... man, I won't even go there. I just absolutely love this movie.

When I say they're playing "bad actors" when it's actually masterclass-level performance, look at this:

Boogie Nights - Brock Landers documentary

hahahahhahahahahhahahahhamm, let me write this down... every single time I watch this film, I hit 00:44 min... Chest Rockwell...

This movie is an absolute disaster; I’ve had to rewind certain scenes multiple times just to process them. It’s wild to think PTA was only 27 when he made this—he’d been sitting on the idea since he was 17. 🙏

He originally wanted DiCaprio for the lead, but Leo turned it down to film Titanic instead. He ended up recommending Wahlberg because he was so impressive in Basketball Diaries.

The PSH performance is absolutely brutal. 🤣

Do a little digging online to see what actually went down on the set of this movie. Apparently, Reynolds had the hardest time; he supposedly felt pretty humiliated having to act alongside some newcomer. Then there’s the subject matter itself. There are even rumors that things got heated between him and Anderson, with one story claiming he actually struck him during production.
Later on, he was pretty much dodging any interviews about the film, at least until the positive reviews started rolling in. Once those nominations for Reynolds began surfacing, he suddenly found his enthusiasm for talking about it. 🙂

Noah Roberts46 said:Honestly, the movie is a disaster—I’ve actually rewatched certain scenes multiple times just to process them. Now that I'm sitting through it properly, you have to realize PTA put this together when he was only 27; the core idea had been rattling around his head since he was 17. 🙏

He originally wanted to give the lead role to DiCaprio, but the guy turned it down because he was busy with Titanic. Instead, Leo recommended Wahlberg, who had already proven himself to PTA in The Basketball Diaries.

PSH absolutely kills it in this film. 🤣

Every single scene in this movie is a masterpiece, let's be real... HHAHAHA... But for me, nothing hits harder than that sequence where they try to sell detergent under the influence—man, that is intense. Personally, it sits comfortably in my all-time top 10 cinematic moments. Maybe it's just me, but here I am again, obsessing over that specific scene and breaking it down in excruciating detail, HHAHAHA:

Boogie Nights Jessie's Girl

The acting is flawless, and the atmosphere is so surreal you don't know whether to laugh or just stare in awe at how masterful it all is, HHAHAHA. The Chinese guy keeps setting off those damn firecrackers constantly (because, you know, he's Chinese and apparently loves setting off fireworks, haha) , and everyone jumps every time one goes off because they’re out there trying to peddle detergent as cocaine—they're terrified they won't pull it off, while this guy just keeps popping firecrackers left and right. He starts playing Jessie's Girl and venting about how much it bothers him that songs on tapes aren't in order, so he decides to reorder them himself.

Then the chaos erupts at the 01:50 mark—THOMAS JANE stands up wanting whatever is under the bed (the German song Nena - 99 Luftballons starts playing), and Thomas Jane cries out: "That's what we goddamn came here to motherfucckiiin' do, and that's what I'm gonna fuccckiiin' do right fuccckkiiin' now!" Hahahaha, the acting, the dialogue—it's incredible. The peak is when he heads toward the room, completely unhinged and high, knocks over a lamp (The lamp falls on him, and he tosses it aside like he's actually personally offended by the lamp itself, haha) and you hear: "FUCCCK NO!" HHAHAHA, what an absolute powerhouse of a scene... aaaaaaaaaaaaa 🤣 🤣 🤣

I could watch this for days, honestly. Night after night.

Without question, this is one of my TOP 10 film scenes of all time.

Jack Murphy5 said:If you dig around online, you'll see how messy the production actually was. They had major friction with Reynolds, who apparently felt humiliated having to act alongside some kid. Add the subject matter to the mix, and it's a powder keg. Rumor has it he clashed heavily with Anderson during filming—at one point, he even allegedly struck him.
Later on, he refused to do any interviews regarding the film until the critical acclaim started rolling in and the nominations for Reynolds began appearing; only then did he change his tune.🙂

Such an incredible movie. Honestly, this is probably my third favorite film ever when it comes to that whole "rise and fall" vibe. For me, the top spot goes to Goodfellas, followed by The Wolf of Wall Street.

Paul Thomas Anderson swears it’s his, but Warburg is out here saying it isn't. Who am I supposed to believe here?

I mean, I'm a huge fan of Paul Thomas Anderson... his stuff is just so deep and honestly pretty provocative sometimes. You can tell he pours everything into every single frame. It really shows...

Where is he actually making that claim? Honestly, it feels like he’s just trolling at this point. You can tell from an airplane that it's artificial. 😉

Jack Murphy5 said:Where's he claiming that? Maybe he was just messing around. I mean, you can totally tell it's fake just by looking at it from an airplane view! 😉

And then he goes, "It's odd that you think it's a prosthetic. That's Mark Wahlberg's penis. I'm not sure where all this prosthetic talk comes from."

Which basically means if my source isn't 100% right, Anderson was probably just trolling everyone... 😬

They actually explained how it happened over here: http://www.vulture.com/2014/12/story...hts-penis.html

That interview above is a total joke. Just look at what they're claiming regarding how they gave Mark the role. 😉

I read it. Trust me, I know. 😬 Warburg basically laughed him off, and that's why DiCaprio didn't get the part 😁

But the crazy thing is, everyone just swallowed it! Now people actually believe he was being serious...

This is easily the best interview regarding Boogie Nights, featuring Paul discussing the adult film industry while casually grabbing some pizza. 🙂
