They can make all the waves they want, but I wouldn’t mind sitting through that long wait for the start of Qualifying 2, stuck in the stands with rain hitting my backside. Even if we are at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The guys with the sweepers are out there trying to clear the track, but I can see trucks tearing up the asphalt too.

Those crowds always come prepared. I watch NASCAR and the fans always have the right gear—good rain jackets, boots, tents 🙂 They’re just used to it.

The decision-makers in Formula 1 are acting like complete fools.
Now that the rain has stopped, they’re just sitting there waiting. Waiting for what exactly??
If they were so worried about the weather, why didn't they just call it during the first part of qualifying when it was actually pouring?
Just let them out on the track. Even if they end up setting lap times in the two-and-a-half-minute range, at least they'll be racing.

If we follow that logic, then none of the greats—not Alonso, nor Hamilton, nor Vettel, nor even Grosjean—would deserve their Pole Position wins because Button wasn't given the same shot at it.🙄
At the end of the day, who said what is secondary; the fundamental truth is simply that certain drivers timed their exit to the track perfectly and caught the right window with the right tires.
Whoever nails that timing deserves the reward, and whoever doesn't just gets left behind. That's how racing works.☕
And honestly, if people want to claim Alonso didn't get a fair shake, well, nobody can blame him for being out there on intermediates.
Or perhaps you'd prefer to suggest that Sergio Perez is somehow at fault because Ferrari decided to play games and sent their own drivers out on intermediates while the rest of the field did something else entirely.
The race was red-flagged due to poor conditions... everything else is just collateral damage...
But when Button was driving, the weather wasn't nearly this bad...
In conditions like these, your starting position on the grid doesn't guarantee a thing... For all we know, Alonso might just wreck his car if they keep him stuck up on the grid.
