Hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice on this:
Five years ago, my dad was in a serious car accident that pretty much wrecked his ankle. Since then, he’s gone through five different surgeries, including one just recently. The real issue now is that the skin is stretched far too tight; the wound won't close up, and we're dealing with surface infections. It feels like we haven't made any real progress, even after five years...
He’s been treated at the Mayo Clinic by Dr. Anthony Tudor.
Here’s what the latest exam report says:
It’s an incredibly complicated case, even if it doesn't sound like it. On top of this, his spine is a mess, and there's already a metal plate in his heel from the same leg. He’s had countless scans and tests...
So, here’s my question:
Where in Washington, D.C. should we go for this kind of procedure? Which hospitals handle these types of reconstructive plastic surgeries? Does anyone have recommendations for specific doctors or specialists? We don't have any connections in Washington, D.C., so I figured I'd ask here and hope for some guidance. Our first step would be getting a consultation and a second opinion to figure out if the surgery is actually viable or if it would just make things worse for his leg.
Thanks in advance.
If there are any doctors in this group, feel free to send me a PM.
