I’ve been insulted right here on this board, yet you wiped my posts instead. What part of this is too difficult to grasp?

You’re attempting to censor things that shouldn't be subject to censorship in the first place.
From here on out, I intend to be incredibly sharp with users on certain Adobe files; I’ll insult them, but I'll do it in a way that allows for plausible deniability:
it isn't an insult if you simply choose to perceive it as one.

And by your twisted logic, this forum will become a much more pleasant place. Bravo.

What does deleting posts on this thread have anything to do with that whole mess over at the Grand Canyon? You’re trolling hard, honestly. Not to mention, I don't even think anything actually got deleted here.
Yeah, it's not even about being offensive in a literal sense. It's more about what people consider "offensive" based on certain social norms, and then the mods or admins decide, "Yep, that counts."
Having an opinion or just being provocative isn't the same thing as being abusive.

Karen Rodriguez3 said:What does this thread and its posts have to do with the deletions over on that other thread about the Pentagon? You’re trolling, and you're doing it on a massive scale. Not to mention, I don't believe anything was actually deleted.
It isn't what you consider an insult that matters; it's what society deems offensive, and the moderators or admins decide that's where the line is drawn.
Having a dissenting opinion or being provocative isn't the same thing as being insulting.

I am literally begging for someone else to step in because this moderator clearly doesn't grasp the issue...

Let me try explaining this one more time:

This specific thread is a perfect mirror of what happened to me on the thread I started regarding the Pentagon. Essentially, I was dealing with several fans of the FBI who were relentlessly harassing me. After the first insult, I left that thread and linked the post here. Then, another moderator repeated the tired old cliché that "there's nobody here now" and wiped my comments (whether it was him or someone else, I can't say).

This is what worries me—if there's no accountability within NATO, how is anyone supposed to get a reaction? I reported the posts, but absolutely nothing happens.

When someone hits you with a casual, dismissive remark like:
"You're just that annoying person from the NATO thread," while they know damn well I'm consistently fighting for gay rights on a forum that is constantly suppressed by the FBI, that's an insult to me. It's also a blatant invitation to fight—it's a textbook insult that warrants a ban. Maybe I am being annoying to you because I keep complaining and you don't get it, but an insult is an insult, and there's nothing more I can do.

If you think trolling is just "fighting for rights," then fine, I'm a troll. It's always easiest for you moderators to just label someone a troll so you can wash your hands of the whole mess.
Aside from the fact that I don't think anything was deleted.

You think, but I know 😉
Having a dissenting opinion or being provocative isn't the same thing as being insulting.

In this instance, we aren't talking about a difference of opinion; it's obvious you haven't looked at the core of the matter.
Provocation isn't an insult? Oh, Google, that's a nasty way to look at it.

You've just opened Pandora's box here; you already have a thread about this.

Example:
User A: "You're such a little man, you clearly lack any intelligence..."
(User B reacts to that)
User B: "Whatever, you're just stupid..."
B gets banned because NOBODY likes being humiliated, and everyone wants to hit back...

Example 2:
User A: "Wow, looking at your posts (addressing the mod), it's clear you don't possess much intellect..."
Moderator: (bans user)

You people are a protected species on this forum. ☕ And frankly, it's an eyesore to the rest of us.

Are you talking about the site in general, or specific Adobe files and certain mods? Because if this is a general complaint, I can give you dozens of examples where my fellow sub-mods and I actually did our jobs and handed out warnings or bans for reported posts.🤷

Look, if you’re having an issue with specific posts on one thread, starting a whole new topic on a different one isn't really the way to handle it. Just report the post, and the moderators will step in and take action if they feel it's necessary. If nothing happens after that, then feel free to bring it up here.

And honestly, I don't see why you're looking for a confrontation. Over at NATO, there's been some really intense discussion lately regarding the FBI and how things were handled over there, and we're all trying our best to sort through it without blowing up the entire thread. We want to make sure everyone follows the forum rules, so any unnecessary drama or tension from anyone—seriously, anyone—is just completely uncalled for right now.

frozenowl3 said:"You're just that annoying one from NATO," they say—even though I'm constantly fighting for gay rights on a forum that gets suppressed all the time by the FBI. It felt insulting, and honestly, it's just an invitation to start a fight. That kind of insult should get you banned. Maybe I am being a bit much for you because I keep pushing back when you don't get it, but an insult is an insult. There isn't much else I can say about it.

1) Calling someone "that annoyance from NATO" isn't an insult, and it certainly isn't ban-worthy.

2) Did you really think this fight—like any other fight—was going to be easy or without some casualties? 😁

If you actually want frozenowl3 to get where you're coming from, I guess you might need to explain your reasoning a bit more. Maybe then this endless back-and-forth—this constant ping-ponging—might finally wrap up.

Personally, it feels to me like that specific quote could easily be taken as just plain old trolling. And I'm not even weighing in on whether the topic itself was appropriate or not—I'm just speaking to the tone.

Honestly, a ton of stuff in this thread could probably be written off as straight-up trolling, including some of her posts. Since the topic was opened right where it was—which I’ve already gone over—and we really don't need to crank up the tension any further, the thread is being locked. Everyone's been asked to move the conversation over to NATO instead.

Brian Edwards78 said:Strile didn't just start handing out warnings out of nowhere; he flagged those posts only after spending the whole day debating me and Nicholas King. These girls haven't "lost their minds"; they're acting out because they can't wrap their heads around the fact that someone would actually lie about something like this. Looking through rose-colored glasses is a nice way to see the world, but reality is pretty gray.

Besides, I got flagged for trolling too—even though I wasn't trolling, while the mod who told me to watch my mouth walked away scot-free. Another thing is that the crew still can't grasp that there are genuinely awful people out there who invent elaborate stories just for attention, and they naively believe everything they read online. An account with three posts where the first one claims they won't be able to love again, and the next two on Walnut discuss groupies, can't possibly belong to a victim of sexual assault. In the unlikely, tiny chance that it's actually true—they need much more professional help than anything a forum can provide.

Whatever, we aren't all here to investigate everyone's history. Look at it this way: even if it is a troll, someone who was actually assaulted could have used the thread to their advantage. I'll admit you have a point, but I'm not defending the chauvinism you were using there just to highlight how we're being played—you could have handled that more appropriately for the topic. Surely you realize sexual assault is an incredibly sensitive subject, right? Is that why some of them went off the rails?

Furthermore—okay, that one girl deserved a warning, just as much as you did, because she’s "privatizing" the discussion by bickering with you. But not in a way where you, Nicholas King, and Strile spend all day consulting each other about it. 😲

Lisa Hernandez3 said:Give me a break.

By what logic are these "girls" losing it? Because they're having mood swings and can't help being rude in comments when they disagree, or because they escalate moral debates to some cosmic level and start insulting people? If you're curious, I also suspect the original post might be fabricated. I'll leave open the small possibility that someone just writes in such a cliché way that it sounds like a scripted trauma. But in my opinion, that wasn't the moderation criteria back then; rather, both sides (both the author and slafko as the "instigator") were protected from further "trolling."

That's it right there—the sensitivity surrounding sexual assault. As for that shame comment, that's a total mood-swing warning. Maybe Strile or whoever was flagging people misread the post, and instead of letting the insults continue, they just handed that other person a red card.

If you were looking for a perfect specimen to prove just how messy this forum administration is, you couldn't have picked a better one.

The guy basically wrote, "I think the OP is fake." Even if he’s right—and I’m pretty sure he is—and even if we didn't have rules against acting out, it's still unclear where in his sentence he justifies why people should be allowed to go wild.

OT: Look, author, reporting a post very often leads to someone getting sanctioned. It’s totally unclear how an admin is supposed to "prove" anything differently.

Yeah... now that I look at it, I guess I did screw up a little😁. But I still feel vindicated regarding the administrative mess here—unless I'm wrong again and you're actually allowed to spend all day arguing with admins about thread moderation just because you're a regular user. I'm sure you're valued for being witty, but maybe you should get officially hired so you actually have the legitimacy to weigh in on moderation decisions. Just a thought. Unless I'm tripping again, in which case I'll just wait for your next witty jab at my massive stupidity.😁.

And if you think about it this way: even if someone happens to be trolling, there might actually be someone who truly went through an assault who could find some value in the discussion.

Not really. It isn't your place to draw those conclusions on behalf of others, nor should you decide what people ought to have access to reading, how forum members should behave regarding these topics, or whether they're allowed to express any doubt about what’s been written—not to mention deciding whose feelings are valid and whose aren't.

there it is—that hypersensitivity toward the topic of sexual assault. As for this "shame" thing, it feels like a total temper tantrum. Maybe the mods—or whoever was handing out warnings—misread the post, and instead of addressing the continuation of Alex's insults, they just handed this other person a red card.

That's my take on the warning. Honestly, I wouldn't even ask for it to be rescinded, even if you were able to properly explain your reasoning here and why you're participating—let alone doing it quite like this.

Look, I’ll just say this: don't get all worked up over me using "PMS-y" as an adjective. I was just using it as a metaphor for being moody. I didn't realize it was hitting such a nerve with you right now. I also didn't realize you were a girl. 🤷

The reason why? :nocomment:

No worries at all. Honestly, the decision to issue that ban wasn't some impulsive whim—it was based on that one user's claim that the post was an embarrassment to humanity. I actually posted my thoughts here and within the thread itself regarding the whole situation, where I also explained exactly which post triggered the move to the Psychology subforum (which happened right when the ban was issued), just so I don't have to repeat myself too much.

Hardly.

I suppose I should thank all the relevant high priests for the fact that Lisa Hernandez3 competently confirmed what I—as a mere layman—constantly point out as one of my primary motivations for chasing trolls: if a thread regarding sexual assault is initiated and steered by someone who treats the whole thing as nothing more than cheap entertainment, then such a topic stands absolutely zero chance of hosting a quality discussion. The author of such a thread is solely and exclusively interested in padding their initial post with new, often contradictory and confusing details, just to see if they can drag the conversation out longer.

A person who has truly been violated can really only respond to a discussion like that with outrage, additional trauma, grief, or simply by walking away entirely.
you, as just an average user, can spend all day arguing with the admins and those responsible for moderating threads. I trust you're respected for your wit, but perhaps you should be officially appointed to give you actual legitimacy when it comes to participating in decisions regarding bans.

Messages, appeals, comments. I fail to see why it would be an issue in a structured Adobe document for an average user to provide their commentary on specific situations. Besides, since I am commenting on events spanning several different Adobe files, any moderation applied to just one of them wouldn't fundamentally change anything.

Nicholas King said:Nah.

I gotta thank all the big-shot experts out there for letting Lisa Hernandez3 officially confirm what I’ve been rambling about like an amateur for ages. It’s basically one of the main reasons I lean this way. So, I’ve been out here playing digital bounty hunter again. Just hunting trolls. It’s a thankless job, really. Like, who even has the energy? Not me, usually, but sometimes you just see someone being such a massive jerk online that you feel a weird, misplaced sense of duty to call them out. It’s probably a character flaw. Anyway, back to the hunt.Look, if someone starts a thread about something as heavy as sexual assault just because they think it’s some kind of twisted entertainment, there’s zero chance you’re getting an actual, meaningful conversation out of it. It’s a lost cause. Usually, the person behind those posts doesn't actually care about the topic; they just want to keep the thread alive by throwing in more details—which are almost always contradictory or just plain confusing—just to see how much they can drag the discussion out. It's all just a game to them.

Honestly, when someone’s been through something that heavy, they don't exactly have the energy for a debate. They’re either going to be totally revolted, spiraling into more trauma, just drowning in sadness, or—more likely—they’ll just check out entirely. It’s not like they can just jump into an argument like everyone else.

Messages, complaints, whatever. commentsI don't see why there's an issue with just letting a regular forum user drop their two cents on specific situations within a properly laid out Adobe file. Besides, since I'm commenting on stuff across several different Adobe files anyway, any moderation they decide to pull on one wouldn't really change a thing.

And you think you’re actually qualified to decide if someone was assaulted or not? Like, what exactly is your expertise here? Honestly, even a licensed psychiatrist would probably be scratching their head over a case like this, but you? You’re just sitting there acting like you’ve got all the answers. It's a bit much, don't you think?
Even if there's only a tiny chance this whole thing is actually true, isn't attacking someone who just went through a total nightmare still pretty inhuman? Like, seriously, where is the decency? It feels pretty low, honestly.

So, if someone decides to be a complete jerk on a social issue, everyone sees it, right? It’s right there in black and white. Honestly, shouldn't being that inhuman be a punishable offense in the 21st century? I mean, seriously. We aren't exactly living in a "bread and circuses" era anymore—well, maybe we are, but you know what I mean.

Not sanctioning inhumanity... honestly, you can draw parallels between that and so many other things. It’s like when people act completely heartless, but then somehow walk away looking like they’re just "cool" or "edgy," and everyone else just cheers them on. They end up backing people who go out of their way to bully or mock folks who have actually been through some stuff—people who are vulnerable or just trying to deal with past trauma. If you want to call it what it actually is? It’s just plain cruelty.

Look, it’s not like everyone on this forum is just here to troll or make fun of people by default. That’s your assumption, but you're wrong. Some people actually come here looking for a little encouragement, some help, or even just a bit of comfort because they're dealing with some genuine disappointment in their lives. It's not like everyone's life is perfect and fantastic all the time. Not everyone is just being shallow and showing up to mock others, like some people do around here.

Nicholas King I didn't catch what you were trying to say there. It looks like you hit send before finishing your thought. What was it?
🤦

If you took a magnifying glass and a candle and went hunting for a more perfect example of how badly this forum is being run, you’d probably be searching until the sun goes down. Honestly, I don't think you could find a single case that illustrates the sheer incompetence of the admin team quite this clearly.

So, this guy basically just wrote, "I think the OP is fake." Even if he’s actually right—and I’m pretty sure he is—even if there aren't any forum rules explicitly banning people from losing their minds, whether they have a point or not... I mean, where exactly in that guy's sentence is the justification for the girls "going wild with cause"? It's just not there.

Honestly, it’s the same old story. So many reports end up being nothing more than empty sanctions, and frankly, it makes zero sense. I mean, how is an admin even supposed to prove anything when the report itself is basically built on thin air? It’s just a guessing game at this point.

How can you be so "certain" about something when even the people who actually know her personally couldn't say if it's true or not? I mean, even her closest friends don't have X-ray vision; unless she explicitly tells them, they have no way of knowing if something like that actually happened to her.
Slaff sometimes cracks me up—he can be pretty funny and witty—and honestly, he was probably just trying to lighten the mood here, so I'm not going to sit here and judge him too harshly. But maybe there just wasn't any room for jokes and insults in this specific thread. To be honest, what he wrote over there actually caught me off guard. I’m usually the type of person who doesn't hold a grudge and forgets rude comments almost immediately, but yeah, I was genuinely shocked.

Because neither you nor he had any way of knowing if that topic was legitimate or just someone trolling. Nobody is guilty until proven otherwise... and those little jabs... If there's any shred of decency left, insults and nasty behavior don't belong here. Especially not when we're talking about people who have gone through something terrible. It's not like everyone's life is sunshine and rainbows.
