Hey,

So, I finally pulled the trigger on a Dell UltraSharp U2412M monitor (though the wait for πŸ™‚ is killing me).

But then, out of nowhere, I start seeing this new lineup from Dell hitting the shelvesβ€”stuff like the 2212hm, 2312hm, and the 2412mβ€”basically looking to phase out the old stuff.

From what I can gather looking at the specs for the 2412m, we're talking 16:10 resolution, LED backlighting, 16.7 million colors, and all that good stuff.
Now, look, I know it’s probably not going to touch the legendary Dell UltraSharp U2410, but compared to that U2412M I was eyeing? It might actually be the smarter play.
I saw it listed for $400 here in the States, so if it shows up locally, maybe it'll land somewhere around $1000?
The big question is: do I just sit tight and wait for the 2412m to arrive, or should I just grab the U2412M now and call it a day?

I’ve been scrolling through this thread for a bit nowβ€”it feels like we're looking at a pretty mid-tier budget IPS monitor here: http://www.overclock.net/hardware-ne...-features.html

The 2412 should perform right on par with the HP zr24w....The real question is what they're going to charge for it, especially considering how cheap the Dell UltraSharp U2311h is right now. If it hits that 16:10 aspect ratio you're looking for and stays at a reasonable price point, it'll be a solid contender. But honestly? Whether it’s actually "good enough" to justify spending enough to buy two of the 2311s is another story entirely. It would be great if this new 2412 could match the value of the 2311 and land somewhere between $200 and $833...if it does, then yeah, it’s a winner.
