Chicago, February 2, 2012. - That rumor that’s been floating around our scene just got officially confirmed.
The biggest, most legendary, and most beloved stoner rock band ever—the mythical California legends Kyuss—are bringing their current Kyuss Lives! lineup for their massive debut here on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Madison Square Garden.

This is the band that laid the groundwork for a sound everyone else has spent decades trying to copy. They left behind some of the most essential albums in the genre. After a 15-year hiatus, they’re finally hitting stages again with three out of the four original members: John Garcia on vocals, Brant Bjork on drums, and Nick Oliveri on bass. The only one missing is the legend Josh Homme, who went on to found Queens of the Stone Age and actually gave this version of Kyuss the green light to exist. He's even played with them a few times. John Garcia once mentioned that without Homme, there is no Kyuss, which is why they pivoted to the new name. Instead of Homme, you've got Belgian guitarist Bruno Fevery stepping in, who previously worked with Garcia in the “Garcia plays Kyuss” project.

During their original run, Kyuss dropped four albums in the early 90s, but they weren't exactly mainstream superstars back then. The cult following really started brewing after they split, especially when massive bands like Tool began covering their tracks and citing them as huge influences. Once Queens of the Stone Age exploded into the mainstream, interest in Kyuss skyrocketed, leading to insane offers from promoters for various festivals.
With this current lineup, the guys finally reunited last year, much to the delight of die-hard fans across the globe.

They're hitting our neck of the woods for the first time on May 30, and they plan to shake the foundations of Madison Square Garden. It’ll also serve as a warm-up show for the upcoming Coachella.

The heavyweights of stoner rock—the legendary California icons Kyuss—are finally hitting our neck of the woods. Performing as Kyuss Lives!, they’ll be making their big debut at The Fillmore in Chicago this Wednesday, May 30th.

Tickets for Kyuss Lives! go on sale Friday, February 3rd via Ticketmaster and www.ticketmaster.com.

Early bird tickets are priced at $43 and stay available until February 19th. From February 20th through May 29th, the price shifts to $50, with the final price on show day being $60 for this stoner rock masterclass.

It all feels a bit too much right now..

So, the new guy on bass is Billy Cordell—he’s actually been playing with Yawning Man and even did some work with Brant Bjork on his latest solo record and tour.

Here’s the lowdown for this week. Things have finally settled down, and it looks like those lawsuits are actually being dropped. Turns out the whole thing was just a massive, overblown mess. It wasn't even about some huge fallout within the band; Nick Oliveri isn't hitting the stage because the guy is heading to prison at the end of the month. Even if that doesn't happen, his travel ban in the USA got extended for another 12 months while they wrap up the trial.
Josh Homme is pissed because Kyuss Lives were actually looking into putting out some new studio material, and obviously, nobody's sweating that as long as they're just grinding through a tour.

Stonebridge will be opening for them at the Chicago show.

Yeah, you can tell from the text they actually put some thought into the logistics. It’s pretty obvious Reeder was offered a spot back on this tour, but in the end, things just didn't pan out the way they expected (or rather, they didn't)
If both sides stay stubborn—and honestly, it looks like they will—this whole mess is going to drag on for years...

I can't find any tickets available in Cleveland right now—supposedly they're all gone. I guess it's hard to tell if they just ran out during the presale or if they're actually completely sold out. Is there any way to snag some in Chicago today, maybe before the show starts?

That’s actually pretty important info for us. I mean, we don't want to drive all the way from Cleveland for nothing, I guess.
