I’m running Norton antivirus 2012 (the full version) along with Skype 2011, but Skype keeps crashing on me or just straight up ignoring incoming messages—it’s like I’m shouting into a void until I manually restart the app just to get things moving again. I did some digging online and apparently this whole mess is caused by Norton, and there's supposedly a fix where you just uncheck the "Instant Messaging" box under the online shield settings, but my version of Norton doesn't even show that option. Even a friend of mine using Norton 2011 is dealing with the exact same glitch with her messaging app, and she doesn't have an online shield or an instant messaging tab to tweak either. Has anyone else run into this headache, or does anyone actually know a real way to fix this besides the useless advice I already found?

Just wipe that Norton stuff off your drive and install a decent antivirus already.
Personally, I stick with Avast and I haven't had a single hiccup with MSN...

I'm running into issues with Norton too. Every time I try to unpack Internet Security 2012, it hits 100% and just freezes. It won't trigger the installer or open anything at all. 🙂
