Hi,

Could one of the respected moderators please explain why the Brad Pitt thread was shut down? I’m also wondering if there are any plans to reopen it eventually.

I feel like addressing the bans should have come first before deciding to just scrap the whole topic entirely.

Honestly, I'm pretty speechless at this point. I'm feeling quite frustrated, especially since the Ask a Question thread was also abruptly closed off like that.

It's just disappointing!!! 👎

...nothing was actually shut down, it’s just temporarily closed so they can get things back in order and calm all the chaos down...

Just one more thing, when exactly do you plan on finally unlocking that thread 🙂

It’s honestly pretty interesting that showing appreciation for one actor—Brad Pitt, in this case—and everyone who joined the conversation is being labeled as "going wild." I mean, there hasn't been anything but positive vibes here, so there certainly wasn't any "wild" behavior going on.

I’ve been hanging around this forum for years now, and I’ve seen just about everything happen in other threads, from Big Brother to political debates, yet those topics never got shut down. So, I suspect the temporary closure of the Brad Pitt thread might just be driven by animosity—though hopefully, it isn't directed at the actor himself, but rather at how people express their enthusiasm.

Also, maybe it would be better to be a bit kinder to the people who enjoy visiting this site instead of acting with such a monopolistic attitude. I guess that kind of behavior eventually ends up hurting the business in the long run.

I can't help but feel like this whole "acting out" excuse is just a smokescreen. Isn't it possible that by shutting down the Brad Pitt thread, they're actually trying to force everyone's attention over toward the East Meets West discussion? Just look at how things went down after that last comment on that thread—it was clearly the breaking point...

I'm just not sure if everyone realizes that trying to bully people into talking about East Meets West isn't going to work. If someone's actual goal here is to watch the whole community fall apart, then fine, I guess they'll get their wish by acting this way 👋

So, I stumbled upon this thread just now, and I find myself compelled to ask: could someone, anyone, please enlighten me as to what exactly is meant by terms like "running wild" or "once things settle down"? Is that truly the core theme here, or am I simply missing the point entirely?

So, am I to understand that what this actually implies—if one were to interpret the subtext correctly—is that certain individuals, those who perhaps no longer find themselves in alignment with the prevailing sentiment, simply stop participating in the discussion or withdraw from the forum entirely? Is that really the case?

What is even the point of having discussion threads if they are just going to be used as a dumping ground for someone else's personal grievances? Is it merely a matter of chance, or is there some grander design at play when we find ourselves swept up by such sudden, overwhelming whims of fate? One cannot help but wonder if we truly possess agency, or if we are simply drifting along, tossed about by the unpredictable currents of luck. Are they actually planning to scrap it? Is this truly happening?
