Forum page width settings

I wasn't quite sure how to phrase the title, so I just winged it 😁

Why is it that when I open certain threads on the forum, the layout stretches out and triggers a horizontal scrollbar, yet in other threads, it shrinks to a third of the screen leaving most of the space empty? Everything looks fine once I exit the thread. It’s mostly consistent, but these specific ones seem to act up. Just to be clear, it isn't a browser issue since it happens regardless of which one I'm using.

Why on earth did the forum page width suddenly "shrink" on me?

Because of the ads?

The forum layout is suddenly "centered" on my screen—until this morning, it was full-width, stretching from edge to edge (if that makes any sense). Is there actually a way to fix this?

What was the reasoning behind this change? Seriously, why? What is the logic behind locking it at a fixed 1100 pixels? It’s completely off-center, that stark white background is an eyesore, and it’s far too wide for a standard 1024 layout—so what exactly was the goal here?

It’s honestly a bit disheartening to see... I suppose 4:3 monitors are officially relics of the past now, aren't they?

It used to work fine for everyone because the forum would just scale to fit whatever PC or resolution you were using. Now, it feels like it's locked into one specific resolution, and the worst part is that it's stuck in that old 4:3 aspect ratio.

I agree about the width. Something had to be done to help the forum monetize and step up its game to improve quality.

The ads from Izzy aren't really visible, and they're actually kind of annoying. They need some color from the back end. As a PHP developer, I could get a lot done for Anderlon if he just gave me access.

Still, it's a good experiment and I'm all for it. With the new admin team and these design updates, we're moving forward. Let's all get involved; suggestions are welcome.

Furthermore, if you look at almost any other major forum out there in the States, they typically tuck their advertisements into the second post down the page rather than slapping them onto the side like this—it's a standard design choice specifically meant to prevent layout issues and that awkward visual asymmetry. It feels like someone is currently messing around with the site's CSS, because while it doesn't look quite as lopsided as it did before, it's still far from ideal...

These are just tests and experiments. Of course things won't stay this way—maybe even the width will change. Everything will fall into place eventually; it just takes a little time.
I can see Anderlon has big plans for this forum, and I'm really looking forward to seeing how it all turns out in the end.

An ad blocker is meant to stop pop-ups and redirects, not block ads entirely unless you specifically set it up to hide them.

I'm using a 1650x1050 setup and honestly, it looks terrible.🙂

It looks really messy this way. I mean, I get that companies need to advertise, but those ads should probably run on a schedule—sort of like how they play on TV—rather than forcing me to stare at them right while I'm trying to read something.

That being said, I really am grateful for AdBlock for keeping all those annoying ads out of my sight.

Honestly, my first reaction when I loaded this "tear-jerker" of a forum was pure confusion—I genuinely thought my laptop was glitching out or something. It wasn't until I hit refresh that those massive Apple ads finally popped up on my screen.

First off, the layout of this forum is incredibly cramped; as Jason Morgan would probably put it, the visual clutter is just plain offensive to look at.
Secondly, these advertisements are giving me a literal headache because they are absolutely gargantuan and utilize such an atrocious shade of blue...

Please, I am asking you to restore the forum to its proper, functional shape and move these ads to a much more subtle location where they aren't so intrusive.

If you aren't planning on fixing the design, then I need someone to point me toward a reliable program that can strip every single one of these damn ads from the site, because right now, this forum is starting to feel less like a community and more like a low-rent landing page for advertisers.
