Back again. 😬

What’s even the point of a three-day ban? If someone needs a cooling-off period, fine, but three days feels excessive. Most people just need an hour to chill out. Maybe a day at most. Have you guys ever thought about actually adjusting the ban durations? It would be great if more moderators weighed in on this. And the users, too. You could even just throw up a poll or something.

Cardboard doesn't just last three days πŸ€” I guess they actually hold up much longer 😁

I’m talking about that 100-point trolling card that gets you slapped with a three-day ban. Ugh, my bad. Total brain fart on the terminology there. 😁

Seriously, Bradley Sanders4, what kind of nonsense were you listening to? 🀣

How does a ban even last three whole days? 🀣

Regarding bans, I honestly think we should just implement a one-day ban for anyone hitting 100 points! 😁 Three days is way too much. I mean, I’m mostly saying this so if I ever end up banned, I don't have to sit through three days of nothingβ€”not that you guys would want to deal with me being gone for that long either. It'd be a huge loss for the forum, I guess. 🀷 😍

edit: Oh, so you just pulled that out of thin air? Well... people rack up 100 points for all sorts of things. They pile them up from off-topic chatter, spam, trolling, and insults! 🀷 For the ones actually being abusive, I’d give them even more... but for the trolls? Maybe just one day! 😁

Honestly, even three days is way too much. If the whole point of a suspension is to act as a disciplinary measure for people who can't stop bickering, a few hours should do the trick. 🀷 It’s like when you were a kid in elementary school and your teacher would put you in timeout for a bit. You just cool off, get your head straight, and move on like a civilized human being. So why make it three days?

You calm down, move on, and everything stays civil. Why bother with three days?

darksailor2, seriously... use your head before you hit enter! 🀣

My theory? Not everyone is glued to this forum 24/7. If I get banned for a few hours tonight because I was trolling a little, so what? I’m probably going out anyway... I'll wake up tomorrow and keep posting! 🀷
Basically, everyone could just troll all night, sleep through their ban, and be right back here in the morning! 😁 Besides, not everyone lives online... unlike you! 😳 I actually have a life... πŸ₯³

...NOT 😒

What I'm saying is, a few hours doesn't mean anything to some people! They go out, grab a coffee, catch a movie, do laundry, hook up, cook dinner, and then they're right back on the site! 🀷

For some people, three days doesn't even feel like enough time because they’ve got that whole "real life" excuse to hide behind. If we follow that logic, we might as well just hand out week-long bans right off the bat just to be safe. (Shoot, I have a feeling someone over there is going to love that idea 😬)

But look, the strike stays. The points stay. So if that troll decides to start up again in a few hours, those points stack up, and they could easily wind up facing a multi-day ban. 🀷

(oops, shoot, I have a nagging feeling that someone out there might actually take a liking to that idea 😬

Honestly, I think you should probably wrap this up while you still can.😬 Things aren't exactly heading in a great direction here! If you keep being this convincing, someone is going to wake up one day and decide that maybe a 100-point threshold is a perfectly reasonable limit for a permanent ban.

I honestly feel like we should be handing out yellow cards just for veering off-topic or other minor slip-ups. Obviously, being outright abusive is a different story entirely. Right now, though, it feels like trolling and actual insults are getting treated with the exact same level of discipline.

I also think we need a formal, written code of conduct specifically for how moderators handle their roles to prevent these constant disagreements. It’s kind of like the legal system here in the Statesβ€”you need clear laws so they can be interpreted properly. Without that, it just leaves the admins stuck doing all the heavy lifting while users end up frustrated with how certain mods are handling things.

I really think the minimum ban should be set at 7 days (100 points). Honestly, you can't accurately gauge someone's level of internet addiction in just three days. Every single addiction needs to be addressed and treated before things spiral out of control.

Look, banning isn't some kind of rehab program for addicts. It’s just about kicking someone off the forum who’s either a professional troll or someone who let their emotions get the better of them and lashed out. For those second types, a 24-hour timeout is plenty of time to cool off and clear their heads. As for the actual trolls? A long-term ban won't do a damn thing for them, but short temporary bans actually help the mods sweep up the mess they leave behind so the rest of us can actually enjoy a decent atmosphere. Long bans are honestly counterproductiveβ€”they just end up creating more work when those people start making burner accounts to come back anyway.

I actually remember this one online community that issued a one-day suspension just to prevent people from jumping ship. They were clearly trying to look out for their members, but honestly, the whole thing fell apart anyway.

In my experience, slapping someone with a multi-day ban backfires completely. It just triggers this stubborn streak in peopleβ€”they get defensive and determined to come back just to prove a point. It’s pure psychology.

Look, it’s a yellow card, which means they’re handing out warnings for a reason, and honestly, anyone with half a brain should take that as a sign to chill out
but apparently, some people on here have done their own little math equations and decided that since a yellow card doesn't actually physically hurt, they can just keep doing whatever they want
usually, when you see those one-day bans, there aren't even any warnings or cards involved, it just happens
you know how the rules work around hereβ€”if you step over the line, you get tossed into the penalty box without any formal warning or second chances
